Great job my friend

Finished up the Hargreaves, Smith & Co. "Imperial Razor". I just made some scales from horn and a set of solid brass domes. It has bronze (yep, bronze) pins all the way from Texas. Those buggers take a little more tapping than plain old brass! Used an old lead wedge and didn't really do much to shine up the blade. I like this one with the good patina it has and the light etch showing through, a nice rattler grind on this one too. Got it honed up and ready for a test run tomorrow.

I think the magnetic razor holders are pretty cool. I most often use my engravers block to help holt blades. The magnetic holder will be more simple for setup and use though. Perhaps in good time.

Im going to make one of those blade holders next. It seems easy enough and i got magnets already. Just got to do it.

How about some basic measuements for that blade holding block? My son is going to be making some shelves for a closet for the wife today so he will have my saws out. I could send him instructions and have him cut me out one while im at work.

Making the Blade Safety Jig

I just use a sheet of 6mm craft foam, $1 at Wally or a Craft Store. It holds the razor securely and buries the blade in the foam, so you can safely sand or polish right to the edge without any danger of cutting yourself.

If you are doing dirty work, lay a paper towel over the foam.
