When we opened the last store it set an all time Sales Record for a Grand Opening in the Spokane Division. Little Walla Walla beat out any Store in the city of Spokane!

While the Produce Manage was a really nice guy and was a wiz with paperwork, physical labor wasn't his thing. The store opened at 8am on a Sunday and I got there at 1pm and the PM was just turning around and wondering around saying "I can't believe it's so busy". I told him shut up Mark and fill something!

At this same point in time there was a young man about age 15+ who was just a new hire carry out but he came over and said he didn't have anything to do so I quickly showed him how to do this and that to get things filled back up.

That young man was transferred to the Produce Dept and I took him under my wing. At the age of 17 he became a Produce Manager at a much smaller store in our area.

He was given a HUGE Raise as you can't be a Dept Head without being a Journeyman. Basically, he went from minimum wage to full Journeyman.

He later left Safeway but went to work for Albertsons in Lewiston while he attended Lineman School and is employed locally by REA (an electrical provider) as a Senior Lineman.

He also went on to be a Hockey Coach for my kids and I'm very proud of him for all he's done.

I just wish that there were more young people who were like him. He wasn't afraid of hard work and was self disciplined.

I believe my generation was the last that had motivation, manners, and yes...we were disciplined. I myself thought I was branded for life.

Ya see, dad was right handed, so on the left cheek of my hiney read, MADE IN THE USA, while the right cheek wore the words, GENUINE RAW HIDE.
I was well versed in the school of leather, and told dad when I was on my own, 'Thank you' !!

Looks like it was a very productive Saturday with awesome projects and finds

Nice work cranking out the projects everyone, some high quality results all around. I'm itching for some workshop time, maybe find a little today, but living vicariously through you guys for the moment. One thing I have been working on, when time permits, is looking up the history of some of the razors that I have. SRP is a good place for that!

Think I agree with you gents, the logo would take away from the natural look of these.
Polished up just spectacularly, if I do say so myself.
Decided to make the wedge out of the same blue urethane as used in the cast.

What size rod did you use? Just wondering :shrug:

Does the wood need any sealant or finish put on it or does it wind up with enough urethane resin impregnated in it that if will be self finishing?
