Maybe I won't even scale it. It's way too big, but it sure is mean. I intended to make a pigtail and hang it for display but it's too damn hard to forge!

I'm working on my Thomas Turner Sheffield razor. A friend did the blade work. The scales are still held together with double sided tape & show traces of white in the dark horn. It should turn out nice, if not, I'll just make new scales for it.

Before I go about doing anything to this razor I found, I would really like to find out something about it. But so far all I have come up with on it is exactly what these pictures have to offer.

Can't really see the pics too well. Does the tang say anything on it?

on one side of the shank there is what appears to be crossed fish hooks with the initials W B B and on the other side the is an arrow inside a target surrounded by and oval with the number 39. that is all it has aside from fancy scales

If you separate the pictures with a couple of spaces, each picture will be larger on the page.

I found a maker called W, B & P for Ward, Bicknall & Potter but no W, B & B, no fish hooks. Maybe Voidmonster will chime in with some info or maybe Neil. Sorry I couldn't help.

While I can't offer any information about the razor I will offer my thoughts about what to do with the said razor.

I'd grab a couple of old toothbrushes and a little liquid dish soap and water and scrub those scales well, you can use a folded piece of old T shirt to get in between the scales. Then rinse and dry them very well/you can use either compressed air or a blow dryer on low heat or no heat to help get the water out from between the scales and the blade, then break out a can of Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish and and the dry tooth brush and the again dry well and those scales will look nice! If you want more shine, try 3M Hard Plastic Polish and they will really shine (no need to use water after that one).

For the Blade; Use some well crumbled news paper with the same Mothers on the blade followed by some old T shirt material and Mothers (lay the blade down on a padded surface covered with old newspaper/I use an old mouse pad/ then afterwards use soap and water being careful to keep it out of the pivot then rinse well and dry well and that's all I'd do to it before honing.

If you need it honed there are many qualified Pros and others that can help you out/myself included.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
