I have only 4 hones which I use....About 10 times as many strops!

So I got the scales apart, saved a pair of silver stacks. The blue worked somewhat. I had to buff most of it off as the blade engraving was fairly blown out from all the sanding over time. As least it is more visible.

Got all set up and prepared to pin the bottom, picked out 8 old brass collars and mated them into 4 stacks.

Pinned the bottom and, with a little judicious work using a pin-vise and 1/16 bit, got it center with a test-fit.

Time to pin the top. I will be using some thin brass spacers.....

Looks very nice Tom. I want to finish my Wosty so bad but even when I made those washer that were offset, it seemed okay until I would get closer to closing the blade & it seemed as though it was in a bind. Gotta do some thinking. My apologies for not finishing anything lately. That's not like me at all. I have more issues but I will not say it because it is personal & has nothing to do with this.

I am hip, Steve. This blade, for instance, has been sitting here forever as have the scales.
Phone ain't ringing and no money spent, just working with what I have.
Turned up all right. I do like to use all old parts to make one serviceable as I can.

Since it is basically breadboarded, My usual regimen of high-angle honing and then spine-on using two layers of tape and a very worn DMT 325 to get over to a slurried Norton 1k, Naniwa 1k, Norton 4/8, and Naniwa 12k/ Escher to finish.

    Thanks!
Well, it had better be a shaver, Mike! I can say it still has it's temper, but I have lost mine!
Just about to get it through the 1k and will pick up on this ornery thing tomorrow evening.
Man, butchered and breadboarded razzers are tough to get that bevel on!

Your edges are sublime Tom. Gave me something else to compare my own standard against.

Tonight I am working on that swordplay you gave me. It's a perfect next project for the inlay etcher. Going to go with the same faux tortoise because even though the manufacturer may have gone a little light on the darker spots in this material, I really like the feel of it. A soft feeling plastic, almost more nylony than acrylic in surface hardness.
Started with the same template between the scale blanks.Name: image.jpg

I mark the edges of the template each build with a sharpie so as the size starts to come together I start to remove the ink and know I'm close and switch to hand sanding. Blanks held in place with two sided tape.

Then I run the blank against the router table with a 1/8" corner round bit to roll my edges initially.

At this point I remove them from the template and remove the Teflon tape on the outsides, stick them back together and finish them matched up by hand.

And this is the inlay to be used and fit..
Should be a gorgeous razor when completed..
    Cheers.

Cannot wait to see it completed,Mike. DO take your time though!

That was the first REALLY nice razor I bought.....Could not bring myself to use it, so I displayed it in my razor table,
Sadly, this was before I had learned some things and provided ventilation.

One day I opened it up and was going about cleaning, oiling, etc and as I got to that one, I noticed that the pivot on the back side was yellow and crackly-looking. Opened the razor and it plain fell apart. Cell-rot!

It had got the blade some, but not so bad, so I unpinned it and watching Glen's video, was able to remove the inlay.

THEN the inlay got lost, another story!

I know it all is in the right hands.

Like I said. Looking forward to seeing it complete again!

Otay.... Houston. We have a bevel!
Nice fatty! (Which seems to be the norm for most butchered blades! )

Popping hairs from around the heel to the toe off the Nani 1k down to 1 layer of tape. FINALLY!
In fact, you can push on a hair just under the notch and it goes flying!

Should be a great place to begin! Mebbe Santa will chuck me a green monster someday?
This took a RIDICULOUSLY long time!
