Yes, rounded the toe and heel a bit and did X-strokes to catch the whole bevel. Truth be told, I didn't spend enough time honing because wanted to testshave it before I left. Taking the bevel angle of 22,5 degrees in consideration I was expecting a less comfortable shave than I had. I like the idea though of adding some smile, thanks.

    Gentlemen,

After about 8 -insert string of expletives- tries at the acrylic scales, I have quit them for now. Either they are harder than a bloody diamond or softer than ... an earthworm, with constant 50/50 mixture of the 2 parts. I succeededish woth one pair, but they're ugly as sin, not too shabby for the first full rebuild I guess. Pics tomorrow when I fire up the ol' laptop.

Great source. I bet some of the pen boxes can also be modified into very cool razor travel cases.

Yep, apparently his mixture isn't perfected yet. I have some mold making stuff but haven't tried it yet. I still need to get the acrylic 2 part liquids & flat pans to make 'em in. One set I need to make needs to be a certain translucent color. Maybe I need to experiment with black first..............don't know yet. I have a lot of irons in the fire at one time. I need to reorganize this place!

I kept it pretty consistent at the instructed 50/50. It was also incredibly difficult to thoroughly mix the two components, leaving some sticky spots than never really dry. It wasn't an issue with the scale cast themselves, but the leftovers I would leave in my cleaned yogurt containers for the wedges. Adding to the complexity was my mold were of bowed scales, so every cast was thicker in the middle. My hope is to sculpt a pair from some medium to make similar designs of my current mold, but flat and let them bow due to the razor. I think some higher quality components may help and will be higher quantities to tinker with.

Valiant attempt, so a success in that respect. Learned some as well.

    Hey Dudes,
Sorry for the long absence. Brazil is passing through another concave of the economy (recession) wave, we are not used to promote good civil wars and I'm a bit conservative about spending money/time on new blades at this time.
Besides that, I'm currently developing a travel case for two straights made of leather, and I'd would like to hear some ideas from the folks. I have large pieces of pigskin to do the guts of the case and good hard thick tanned leather for the structure and outside.
What do you think about an ideal small and hard travel case for two razors?

I am still in search of a good 6/8 smiling ran tan ka rus blade to make pair with mine, and would like to ask you, gents, to keep an eye open if you see an interesting specimen. Don't need to have the most perfect blade surface (mine doesn't), and the scales just don't matter, because I'm pretending to install similar blonde horn scales on both to make my "ultimate pair". I'd be proud to exchange it for some razors I don't use anymore (have some swedish girls here in need of a more beloved owner).

Damn, the semester was hard, with a lot of students demanding my attention, so my participation here became somewhat bissextile. But now I'm on VACATION! A whole month without hearing the poor banshees Goetheless, Saramagoless, Ingmarbergmanless, Mobydickless and Tedrooseveltless souls.

    Cheers!

Hey Matheus, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Ran Tan Ka Rus for ya. I got one awhile back. It is a ringtail but worn spine. Today is our Independence Day here in the states so it is a holiday here but I hope you have a great vacation.
