Ya, Matheus. Crazy things happening everywhere. I have also had a pile of other things to attend to and, as you say, not much luxury money for razors and such. Enjoy your time off!

Congrats on completing the semester Mat.
Regarding the case. I like to carve out razor pockets from solid wood myself. Made a few weekend kits with strop wrapped around the outside.
If you have access to a mill or drill press, it's worth considering.
Going to be making a new one this summer actually for a friend on here.
BTW for those that have noticed my absence on here these last 42 days, My new counters are being installed Wednesday!!!
    There was much rejoicing....

Besides that, I'm currently developing a travel case for two straights made of leather, and I'd would like to hear some ideas from the folks. I have large pieces of pigskin to do the guts of the case and good hard thick tanned leather for the structure and outside.
What do you think about an ideal small and hard travel case for two razors?

I am still in search of a good 6/8 smiling ran tan ka rus blade to make pair with mine, and would like to ask you, gents, to keep an eye open if you see an interesting specimen. Don't need to have the most perfect blade surface (mine doesn't), and the scales just don't matter, because I'm pretending to install similar blonde horn scales on both to make my "ultimate pair". I'd be proud to exchange it for some razors I don't use anymore (have some swedish girls here in need of a more beloved owner).

Damn, the semester was hard, with a lot of students demanding my attention, so my participation here became somewhat bissextile. But now I'm on VACATION! A whole month without hearing the poor banshees Goetheless, Saramagoless, Ingmarbergmanless, Mobydickless and Tedrooseveltless souls.

    Cheers!

I take it you are wanting to go with leather only as opposed to leather over wood. Essentially the hard leather case is most often made by wetting the leather and then pressing it over a mold and clamped until dry. There are also cases where the leather is beveled to a 45 degree angle, and then the corners glued together and then punched and stitched to draw strength on the corner. Is the case going to house just the two razors? Do you have a set up of different gear in mind? You have my curiosity up. I love making boxes from all kinds of materials. I too am too tied up in other things to get much razor stuff done.

Yes, the case would be to house just two razors, and I'm building it to house two 6/8 blades. I'm not pretending to do it just with leather, and got today a nice piece of 3mm PVC plate to do the skeleton. I'll be covering the skeleton with the Black pigskin, so building a case with the tanned leather around it.
I'll report the advances at Hirlau's "other skills" thread. 😉

I've been gifted two razors by MikeT. He says make some more shorties. And after some thinking...OK!! But I'm gonna shorty them the other way, more like a skinny instead.

The Hess would become a 5/8

And the Herder would become a heavy 9/16. You can see the line drawn for the shorty profile, but in my opinion, doesn't go well with the thickness of the tang, so I figured I'll keep the length, and narrow the blade instead.
