I must both agree, and disagree with your stance on this matter. Unless I am mistaken, the general consensus of this thread is that the majority of listings that wind up here are because of misrepresentation of goods.

Sometimes, that comes in the form of blatant contradiction of an items description vs. its appearance in the photos in the same listing.

Sometimes, it is misrepresented through an absurd price slapped on a BIN during an LSD fueled "picking" spree. Not everything is rusty gold.

Personally, IMO, I think the rest of the listings (i.e.: remaining minority) land in this thread because "it's a shame" that the razor reached that condition.

I'm American; so I can't necessarily blame someone for trying to make a buck off of a roached vintage item. Throw it up on the 'bay, put the default starting bid of $0.99 on it, state a fair shipping charge, describe it as accurately as possible without "blowing it out your ass", and see what happens.

FWIW, I think this thread is a valuable educational tool... most of the time.

Picking apart razors because they are not prime examples? Yes, That W&B FBU has grind marks.

So What? If you look close, you can see a very small bevel. No hone marks on the spine would simply be because he used tape, and multiple layers to achieve the small bevel. Do you know for a fact that it was HIM that ground the blade? I have received numerous razors that came out of the hands of fools with dremels or course sandpaper (which is what was used on that W&B)
If he were such a "shameful" seller, he would already have negative feedback. Do you see any complaints on his feedback that a razor was not actually shave ready?
Nor is it required that rust or pitting be removed in order for a razor to be shave ready. I have had MANY blades that were not worth restoring, that I have put into shave ready condition just so a new guy could try it out.
It is NOT shameful to put a picture up, and place an item for sale. Ridiculing somebody for doing it is.
    <getting off of it now

....well guess I lost that bet, Martin103

magpie- were I hail from (planet earth) "Q: Are those scratches going diagonally on this razor... That's what it appears to be it just throws me of because the stamp is completely unphased by it
A: Wow, excellent observation! YES, the stamping on the blade IS ON TOP of the scratches. So, this means this was DONE AT THE FACTORY! Wow! Thanks!" is a bold faced lie. One that only a newbie could be roped in by. That is the definition of shameful.
But instead of needing to call names- If that razor is truly shave ready, I'll saw my own d off with it.

...but seriously Magpie, were do you buy your coticules?

For $79.99 BIN you can get this custom built:

Vintage Straight Razor Joseph Elliot's Best Silver Steel XXL Wedge Shave Ready

Hey now, we don't know how to build a custom razor. This is the new high tech way to do it by making your scales in 5 minutes on a bench grinder & when you're ready to put 'er together, ya pop rivet it together.

That's awesome!! I used to use something like that to cut radiator hoses and fan belts back when I was a mechanic! I'm sure I didn't pay 80 bucks for it tho.

I'm feeling shame for this razor. The plastic handle was broken on the end, from the seller. I took the gamble and turns out it's ivory. Gulp.
