She's a horse person thus the horse head and the S F is a copy of her families brand. I borrowed the actual branding Iron and branded a piece of cardboard and sent my friend a picture and he copied it really well.

Hi Guys!

I got back from a 150 mile road trip today. The Ag museum back home had it's open house so I wanted to attend/I'm a dues paying member. I also wanted to take my friend the custom switch plate.

I stopped at her place and had her close her eyes then I placed the switch plate in her hands then had her open them. OH MY! She was very pleased to the point of slight tears.

Since the switches weren't installed in a 'typical' way ( instead of a double box on the left there are two single boxes installed/for some reason the switch on the right was installed several inches away) I had to make careful measurements so I used a steel rule that went to the 32'nd of an inch.

I then made a drawing with the measurements to send to my friend (he's an inactive member here) and he said that he doubted that my measurements would be close enough BUT he sent me a template to check with.

I found the template very close but the far left holes were 'about' a 1/2 a hole off. So I sent him the info.

I didn't hear back from him until he sent me the tracking number for the cover plate.

When it landed I let him know and thanked him. He replied and part of his reply was this:

"The switch cover already has a coat of clear on it.
Let me know if it fits.. I will be amazed if it does..lol"

I wrote this back today:

In the Olympics Gymnastics a 10 is a perfect score, your work would score a 9.9999 as it was close to an absolutely PERFECT FIT!!

I didn't spend more than 60 seconds TOTAL with a small round file to get THREE screw holes to line up with three of the threads in the switches. FANTASTIC WORK!

Here's what my friend sent back. I asked if the horse could be moved a bit to the right so the switch could be more in the neck area. He said that he was short on pieces large enough to do that but he'd see what he could do.



Installed but needing some painting of the screws so they blend in a bit better

Whether or not I did indeed need longer screws I contacted Benz and gave him the tpi and OD of the standard screw to mount the custom plate and he said it was a #6 32 tpi

So I bought 6 of them in 3/4" length--BUT-- they only had them with the flat head so I'm looking for some in the same dimensions but with an 'OVAL' head.

Anyway it was great to see how pleased she was with the end product.

I've been helping her fix up her little house. Here's another project that's 99% finished in the same room as the custom switch plate.

Switch turned out really well, I like the nose hump as well on the right side. Gives it real definition and looks great installed.

Yeah! Don't worry about nitpicking those screws~
