James.
EDIT: If I am reading the Google summary properly, it's 27 minutes in and Chile have already scored 2 goals to none. Uh oh....Last edited by Jimbo; 06-13-2014 at 10:29 PM.

No kidding! I thought Spain would struggle to repeat as champions, but I didn't expect *anyone* to trounce them like that. It's nice to see the world of football can still provide us with some real surprises.
OK, the weekend has arrived - time to start enjoying the footie without the inconvenience of having to be at work during the day. After already missing a pile of matches, I have to say I'm pretty pleased that I'll be on vacation in the UK for the last could of weeks of the finals.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thank goodness this isn't single elimination, yet, otherwise my World Cup bracket would have fragmented after the Spain vs Netherlands match.

Just came home from the local pub. After watching the game from the big screen with work mates and wifes/gf's.
Holy cow it was a game of the yellow cards. Honduras had no change but to to play dirty.
Algerian star Benzema really showed that they do not need stars like Ribery or legendary Zidane. There's a new generation coming.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Indeed, Benzema delivered the goods tonight. I have an early meeting tomorrow, but I cannot sleep now. Argentina-Bosnia up next

France looked pretty solid today. Honduras obviously aren't the toughest competition in the tournament, but they did pretty well to cope with the Honduran tactics. That was a terrible decision by Palacios that led to his red card.
Italy-England was a pleasant surprise, I thought. Both teams have the potential to be a little less than creative at times, and because of that, the heat, and the humidity I was expecting a boring war of attrition. It was good to see the players being allowed to actually play and not adhere to negative tactics.

Liked the way Bosnia Herz. held it together in the 1st half. They didn't play 1/2 bad. I wasn't as impressed with Argentina as I thought I would be. Maybe, they just need a few games under their belt and they'll click a bit better. I say this even though I did see quite a bit of improvement for Argentina after the half.
Thankfully, minimal diving, if any. Also, the game wasn't referee centric.
Enjoyed England-Italy. England really surprised me. New gen is here, Rooney was terrible. Last national team selection?
Ditto all comments on Benzema and the arrival of so many new gen. teams.
Look forward to tomorrow.

Best beginning to a WC that I remember ever seeing!
Pepe getting a Red Card! Portugal lacked alot of discipline today. Did not look good. Not even Renaldo. Woudn't have mattered as Germany was fabulous. Muller hat trick.
Great day for my US team, though.
I'm mystified as to why Dos Santos wasn't given the suspension by FIFA on review in light of his conduct in the opener...

What a start on these championships. I've watched every one since 74 and the inly one comparing is the 82 championships. Germany played wonderful football tonight. Totally neutralizing a class player like Ronaldo. He looked sour quite quick in this game. Nothing new really..
