Thread: New Immigration bill is TREASON

Great movie.
The student population in Los Angeles Unified (LAUSD) is now 73% Hispanic and 9% white. Most of that shift has come in the last 20 years. It was in 1980 that my son was bused 20 miles across town, to achieve racial balance (read black - white). At that time there was talk of breaking up LAUSD and having a separate district in the San Fernando Valley. It never happened because the racial balance in the Valley would have had too many white children.

I am not going to comment on the contents of that movie because statistics can prove anything and nothing at the same time.

But what i found amusing is that there were numerious black / hispanic / chinese? / ... people in the audience, all nodding along. Yes, those troublesome immigrants. they have to be stopped.
Like a severe case of 'I'm in and now it's time to close the door. What? me? that's totally different...'

I took the reaction depicted by most of the people in the audience to be a realization that there is a big economic issue to immigration... not a "whew, glad I got here before they close the door" reaction.

In a sense, isn't everyone either an immigrant or the descendant of an immigrant, regardless of where you live? Any of those people depicted in the video might have recently immigrated. But if not, for sure (regardless of their color and/or ethnic background) they are the descendant of someone who immigrated, be it tens, hundreds, or thousands of years ago... we don't know.

An immigrant is simply someone who moves from one geopolitical region to another. The ancestors of the American Indian are thought to have immigrated across the land bridge from Asia circa 10,000BC. Europeans began immigrating to the US in the 16th century. I'm not very familiar with the history of Belgium, but I'd guess that the ancestors of the Celts didn't always live in Belgium... they invaded/immigrated from somewhere else.

I think the "hot" issue in the USA right now is "illegal" immigration. This video, however, focuses on the longer standing issue of legal immigration and how the number of immigrants could swamp the US economy if not managed.

The illegal issue is EXACTLY what this thread was discussing. I sort of half-hijacked it by posting that video, but I knew that 1639 was going to fail to achieve cloture so I thought I'd post something to keep the thread alive. LOL.

That being said, I'm going to step out here and say that the stats from the video include all immigrants, both legal and not so much. If I'm wrong please correct me.

We're not in disagreement... remember, I posted the youtube version of the video before you posted the google version . All I was saying was the video takes it to a higher level.

I re-watched the video and it's unstated whether it includes the illegals or not. Supposedly the figures are from the census bureau... afaik, they produce an estimate of the number of illegals, and given this video is trying to highlight an alarming situation I'd assume like you that the charts include illegals.
