Looks like new Jerry! What's the knob/sliding thing below the light switch?

Nice work on the door, new old.,!
    I. Guessing a significant frame deadbolt also on that slider to the right.
Notice the doorknob is set onto a solid looking push plate as well. Would be difficult to kick that door in.
    Nice save Jerry!

While an asshole wanting to break in could just break the bottom window and then unlock the doorknob, that slider might be at least a bit of a puzzler to him and keep him/her out until further action on Jerry's part could happen.

Many years ago my youngest brother lived in a 'less than desirable' area in Spokane WA. Some asshole broke into his non attached garage and stole the Edelbrock manifold and carb off of his car.

Note: that brother can be quite radical---but I will say that I'd rather have him on my side of the fight than to fight against him------------

Anyway he called the police and the cop was asking him questions and filling out the report when my brother asked him what would happen if some guy broke into his home and he shot and killed him.

I guess that the cop didn't even look up and causally said: "If he falls outside, drag him back in".

You guys are right about it being a locking rod that goes thru the frame and door. The previous owner of the house put it in. I guess he never thought about breaking the glass. But my other door that is just like it that walks into the lower living room doesn't have this locking bar but I put a piece of plexi-glass over the three pains of glass on the inside. So if someone breaks the glass it aint going anywhere. I've been wanting to do the same thing with this door into the garage but just never have gotten around to it. I guess now is the time.

The guy that owned the house before me did a few odd things. There is a switch above my bed that I can reach while laying down that controls lights above all 3 doors that go into the house. Not porch lights but separate lights. I guess if he herd a noice he could just flip the switch and think he scared off whatever. animal or man. There was a homemade alarm system in the house too. It ran on DC as there was a Car Battery in the attic that had a trickle charger wired to it. That had to be removed when I bought the place. A few other things too but I dont need to go on and on.

I showed the upgrade benchtop band saw that I recently purchased here:
    https://sharprazorpalace.com/beginne...ml#post1919988

I decided to play a bit and took a piece of scrap pine or fir with a pretty good sized knot in it to see how the new saw would do. I didn't use any 'fingers' to help hold the 1.5 in high scrap against the fence and I was cutting pretty quickly---until I hit the knot and then the blade immediately took off in it's own direction.

This is the other side. The dark area at the bottom is the knot:

The blade is 1/4" wide and is of unknown origin so I started re-cutting but at a snail's pace and the blade started cutting through the knot.

I've got a couple of blades ordered and I'll see how the one does. The other is a bi metal blade.

Thanks for sharing, Roy. I will be watching. It did look like a decent cut against the fence until the knot.

They do make resaw blades for the bandsaw too. They are wider and have the teeth set differently (just like a handsaw). I've found a big difference in how easy mine cuts with and against the grain. FWIW
