Well Roy, when I was running a small fishing lodge for the worlds largest construction company, I heard that same story a lot.

I do not know your whole story but from my experience if treat your employees good and you will get employees that treat your vans good.

If cheap employees are cheaper than the fortune you spend on your vans then I can understand the economics.

It's not a pay issue, most are take home vehicles , they drive 100 to 150 miles a day. They just need to communicate better when they need to get basic services done.

Now a days the vehicle should call you when it needs service. Don't tell me that in this day and age you don't know where your vehicles are within 20 feet at any time.

I can definitely pull up where they are even now that I am 7 hours difference in time zones away. I guess I should put video cameras in their trucks while they drive and spend time I do not have at the moment. Gas cards are only as good as the data the technicians enter while pumping gas for their mileage. I do have the branch manager check them weekly, but no way to predict when the need to check the brakes, coolant, etc while doing a vehicle inspection in the morning for 18 vehicles.

Maybe you should by a 19th and pull them in on a scheduled twice a month or so inspection.

I just happened to stumble upon this little trick and I thought that I'd share. Note that it's a left hand drill bit--at least it looks like it is and also I would add that some Kroil oil added before hand would be worth the effort as I've never used 'The Beeswax Trick'.
