I actually had a DoD hat trade last year, but the shirts are harder to come by and its not like they have a huge store in the pentagon so I have to deal with stock issues, sizing, etc. I may do another hat trade later in the year, but I really dont want to get in the habit of buying and selling or trading stuff, I dont think anyone I work with would take kindly to it...as a general rule, they really dont like the idea of people who dont work there wearing the stuff unless they are family or close friends, and I dont blame them.

Ok lets keep this on topic and think about Rich, not clothing...he just lost his job and has a wife and kid(s) to think about, I doubt he gives a crap what kind of shirts we are wearing.

Well said. An excellent post by a moderator.
Rich, the offer to pass your resume along to my good friend who is a recruiter for Ernst & Young still stands if you're interested.
If you're interested in relocating to Atlanta, we have a couple of positions open in our Accounting department.

Sorry to hear that, Rich. So you were fired and not "layed off" or "downsized"?
Why did they let you go, if you don't mind me asking?

Let me say what I did first. My title was Deputy Director of IT Administartion. (Bullshit city title) I did all the admin stuff for the IT dept. Interface with vendors, get consultants on board, prepare annual budget, deal with the purchasing system, interface with HR and Project oversight. It was like they took parts of jobs everyone hated and made a job of it. Well when I started in January my boss was very excited and we were going to correct department problems. He left in early April. We had no boss for 3 months while they searched. ( won't even mention what that was like) New boss last month. Wanted to bring in his friends, head count freeze, last hired (no union coverage) first fired. Of course he didn't say that but it was obvious to everyone there.
PS NY is a right to work state so I don't think I have any recourse. Even though no one ever said they were unhappy with work I was doing or anything like that.Last edited by RichZ; 08-02-2007 at 11:09 AM.

I feel your pain Rich
1) I haven't received my Pentagon shirt yet either.
2) Florida is a right to work state too. I have ZERO job security.
As a matter of fact, last week I changed posts and saw that they adjusted my rate of pay.
I checked with the state and a company can hire you for $100 hr and unless you have a contact specifying a length of time you will be payed that amount, then the co can knock you down to minimum wage after the first hour is up.
There is nothing you can do over it except quit !
I'm looking for a new company.
