5'9" 230lbs and I have spent probably too much time working out in the gym over the course of my life. Most of my friends and family are in awe of how much weight I can/have lifted and how great shape I am/was in.

That said, over the last 2.5 years I have spent around 1.7 of it in recuperation from shoulder surgery, and I am about to go in for another in a week to re-attach a tendon I ripped out of my shoulder. So it seems all the people who have spent their lives watching tv and doing their little 30 minute walks a few times a week are in better shape than I am currently, with far fewer medical bills.

Yes, that can be a good thing I guess. Did you tear it from working out I assume? Too bad you don't live in Ontario, yay for the great health care..

Yes I ripped several muscles, tore the tendon, and tore the tendon from the bone all at the same time working out. My doctor is actually part of a specialized group that works on the pro football team in my state and also the US Olympic team so Im pretty well covered....of course I probably know him better than I should at my age.

I'm 6'2" (1.9m) 190 lbs (86.2kg). I would say that I work out pretty consistently, just so that I can date cute young girls. However, I do eat whatever I want, which is not always good. Under no circumstances do I eat fast food other than Subway, and I don't eat Hamburgers either. I avoid desserts like pie and cake, except for birthdays only. I rarely eat sweets or candy. I love cheese, so I'll never give that up. I recently gave up weightlifting because I got a hernia. My doctor says that weights aren't for everyone, so maybe try martial arts or yoga. Don't laugh, yoga can be very good exercise for building muscle, and there's tons of hot girls in yoga class!

I have been doing yoga for 2 years now. Yes hot ladies in those classes, and amazing core workout. Plus any wife/girl would not mind a flexible guy.

    5'8"
    220 lbs

Now the BMI tells me that I am about to die.

At 18 I was the same height and weighted 180-185 lbs and had a very, very nice body. As in no fat (I know there is no such thing,I had a nearly non existant adipose layer).

At that weight the BMI had me as overweight.
    Imagine that.
    5'8"
    180 lbs
    29 inch waist

Now I have a 34 inch waist and it is starting to bother me a little.
I am stronger than I was at 18 though so I'm sure sme of it is residual from my 3 year + weight lifting thing (obsession).
I was having some trouble exercising with a baby around so I got one of these.

Just hook it to the rear fork of the bike and ride!
Had to be a trailer the way I ride. Either that or a Lexan capsule with a suspended harness inside !!!

I'm about 175cm tall and weigh 90Kg. Short and stocky. My weight tends to remain constant, it's the muscle mass that changes depending on whether I can get to the gym reguarly or not. As I've gotten older, it tends toward the "not".

I used to be really into bodybuilding, so I knew all my measurements. I also know that BMIs and such aren't necessarily an accurate indicator of whether you're overweight or not. I used to have all sorts of problems with physical examinations where the doctors would record me as overweight based on BMI, even though my (caliper-based) body fat was 6 or 7%. Finally found a sports doctor and the problem ceased.

I'm happy with my weight although I know if I become too sedentary I'll need to watch things - cardio was never my forte...

BTW poster, not everyone loves working out, some of us just try to get it over with. It's like eating veggies when your a kid. Try not to think about it, just get off yer ass and do it!

    yeah man, that sucks

having been 5'8" and somewhere between 215-225 at one time, then not working out for 3 years and now I'm getting back to that weight, but not because I work out, I feel your pain.

There is nothing more humbling than saying "Well, I used to bench 320 X 4, but now I can only do 225 X 1".
My squat numbers are suck too. From like 450 X 6 down to 300 X whoops my ass.

I started lifting again a few months ago and didn't realize that the slab I had set up on was sloped like 3" lower on one side.
I tweaked a shoulder and it hurt for like 2 months.
    I can't get a decent spot.
I start where most people max so it's just a waste of time having their nuts that close to my face, because they can't catch the weight anyway.

I had an accident years ago, it pretty much ended my heavy lifting.
Was doing incline bench with 185 lbs and had all but 10 degrees on my arms and dropped it right on the bridge of my nose.
It's crooked now (like it wasn't before?)
Gave me a concussion, knocked me loopy for about a day, broke my nose, blackened both of my eyes, made me scared of the weights.
Not too scared to break my spotters nose as repayment though !!!
