But if your scared and feel like the sky is falling then stay inside! But let the rest of us go out. The waters fine! Jump right in.
That is fine in your own country but becomes a possible problem when you travel to another country and flaunt it's laws. We are two different countries set on two different courses wrt managing Covid 19. Once the global pandemic gets under control I see no reason that the border should not be open to non essential travel once again.

Ah ya, the perfect solution to border issues LOL. I think enforcement of the Quarantine Act is good enough.

We are still on fairly strict rules as far as the comings and goings of people here. I’m ok with that. Globally manny small businesses will not survive this. It all hinges on how stable they were to start with, how well they have adapted, and how well they are supported by banks, grants and government loans. Shit storms happen regularly that cause the collapse of businesses large and small. I do know that there is a level symbiotic economics that take place between Canada and the US. Either of our economies flounder and the other pays the price as well. I do hope that globally things get under control soon. I think that South Korea has done a stellar job of controlling the pandemic there. It would do all of us well if we could follow the best models, instead of reinventing the wheel. I have a contact tracing app on my phone. If you think for a second that the advertisers and marketers are not already tracking you and your phone, you are naive. I am more concerned with the survival of more things than the temporary loss of a few civil liberties.

Okay, I'm calling BS. It's a dirty rotten job but somebody has to do it. It's about time somebody did. If people want to isolate themselves, their towns, counties, countries then so be it but there is just something that smells fishy about this. When someone can give me a straight answer as to the death toll I'll take it seriously. You do realize that if you have a piano dropped on you and die then posthumously test positive they call it a Covid related death right? Why is that? If we were talking about stroke or heart disease you would get a straight answer. The truth of it is convoluted but really very simple. There is no political hay to be made with stroke or heart disease. Quick quiz: Q: who gets tested for the flu every year? A: the people who show symptoms for it. There is no massive random testing for flu so how do we know how many people contract the flu every year and never show any symptoms? Between 250,000-650,000 people die worldwide every year with the flu... And we have a vaccine for that. Why is there no major outcry about it? And why is there this big panic with Covid when we can say definitively now that such a large percentage of people who get it show little to no symptoms? There are too many things that just don't make any sense logically, statistically, economically, it's just not right. There is political and societal monkey business going on with all of this. The WHO has shown themselves to be unreliable and politically motivated. The media has become a PAC... always has been really. We just have options now: one of the redeeming qualities of the internet. There are very few entities you can actually trust. I don't know who's baby this is or what their angle is but there is some kind of BS going on here.

I’m sort of with you and sort of scratching my head at the same time. I’d like to question you source of the piano thing. I honestly do not believe that they rest every dead person for COVID. Is people that have symptoms that get tested, and if those people die they go in the count as dead, if they recover they go in the count as recovered. Regionally we are not doing broad testing, at least not here in my region. Other regions have. Globally, in six months, with everyone freaking out and measures in place to slow the spread, there is still 8 million ish dead. Quite a bit more than the flu. Also we do have a vaccine for the flu, but still people both vaccinated and un vaccinated die, lots of them. However it’s not that far back in history that lots of people died from the flu. In fact the whole world freaked out in 1918 from the flu, there were crazy numbers of dead people, especially when you consider the speed of transportation and the size of the world population. In the not so distant future we will developed a vaccine, develop a patient management therapy, and it will shrink and not be such a big deal. Feel free to go about your business.

There is a large percentage of the population with underlying conditions. I suspect it’s somewhat rare to have people die from a singular medical cause. To have no underlying causes, is to be a perfect specimen. I no longer qualify.

Sadly, everything is politicized in USA these days. Covid deaths and blame thereof seems to be no exception.

It’s likely the same in a lot of areas. Having only two political parties does seem to polarize everything? A lot of non political issues are twisted and politicized here too. Sometimes I’d like to see less finger pointing, and more cohesive solutions.

There is a large contingent of people who would say the following.

When you are born there is no warranty or guarantee attached to your birth certificate. At any point in your life you may succumb to anything from manmade, man assisted, natural, act of god or just plain bad luck. So, just live with that and move on. People die every day of all kinds of things and so if x number die of covid so be it and let's all just move on with it and our lives.

My view to that is as it has always been. When you personally are OK with seeing your own family die from this thing and still feel the same way let me know. So far no one has. It's easy to send strangers to their deaths.
