True words Big. I am in constant appall over the insensitivity to the plight and lives of others. That condition is the mainstay of so many negative approaches to living that in many way I am glad that I am, and have been, a semi-hermit for many, many years. I am well aware of the world around me and interact when I feel the need. I am not an isolationist of dooms-dayer but hopefully a realist.

I agree to a certain extent. It is really easy to be cavalier when it's not your own life or your family's. By the same token until the final day the sky is in fact NOT falling. The only sure thing in life is death. Even taxes are not sure. What is the very worst that could happen to you if you don't pay? The death penalty and then you have to die. You still don't have to pay the taxes. The point is there are reasonable precautions and unreasonable precautions. Wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle or motorcycle is a reasonable precaution ( I won't get into the whole argument about mandating them. I mean voluntarily). Never going outside because a meteor might fall on you or dressing your kids in bubble wrap and never taking your eyes off of them are unreasonable precautions. Where is that line in the sand? Beats me. It is somewhere between "let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die," and, "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!"
In a climate, as others have also noted, where every bloody thing is turned into a political hammer and the leaders of social movement groups are advocating treason those lines become even more blurred.
I am still, by the way, taking my reasonable precautions but life has to go on and until someone shows me something more concrete than sketchy math and scary anecdotes I am STILL calling BS.

If people want to isolate themselves, their towns, counties, countries then so be it but there is just something that smells fishy about this. When someone can give me a straight answer as to the death toll I'll take it seriously. You do realize that if you have a piano dropped on you and die then posthumously test positive they call it a Covid related death right? Why is that? If we were talking about stroke or heart disease you would get a straight answer. The truth of it is convoluted but really very simple. There is no political hay to be made with stroke or heart disease. Quick quiz: Q: who gets tested for the flu every year? A: the people who show symptoms for it. There is no massive random testing for flu so how do we know how many people contract the flu every year and never show any symptoms? Between 250,000-650,000 people die worldwide every year with the flu... And we have a vaccine for that. Why is there no major outcry about it? And why is there this big panic with Covid when we can say definitively now that such a large percentage of people who get it show little to no symptoms? There are too many things that just don't make any sense logically, statistically, economically, it's just not right. There is political and societal monkey business going on with all of this. The WHO has shown themselves to be unreliable and politically motivated. The media has become a PAC... always has been really. We just have options now: one of the redeeming qualities of the internet. There are very few entities you can actually trust. I don't know who's baby this is or what their angle is but there is some kind of BS going on here.
Couple of points, I have not heard of anybody that has tested positive for covid19 being hit on he head with a piano so I think I need you to quote your source for that.

I have personally never heard of anybody being asymptomatic with the flu, you have it and feel like death warmed up or you don't have it as far as i am aware.

I do agree that a lot of people get covid19 and don't even know, but, who knows what the future looks like health-wise for those people.

Anybody that thinks of getting the virus to get immunity has to be out of their ever loving heads. Over 170,000 people got it and didn't get immune and that is just in the US.

Those that don't get quite as immune as they think will quickly learn the error of their ways. I was in a coma for 3 weeks and woke up with a ventilator down my throat and a feeding tube up my nose, it is not a lot of fun I can say for sure (I had Legionnaires Disease in England)
I don't think the WHO were doing such a terrible job, they could do better for sure but it just suited a certain Ex apprentice tv star to blame them for the covid in his country.

I personally don't think CNN and co are fake news and I don't think that Sanjay Gupta or Dr Fauchi are telling porkies, but even if it were maybe not as bad as we are being told, I don't really see the issue.

Do you refuse to wear a seat belt because statistically, not many people die in car accidents compared to how many cars are on he road?

As far as the politics and the muddying of the facts the American Public should get their heads out of their butts and instead of listening to Trump and his lackeys or Rush or Maddow they should listen to the Virologists, and Epidemiologists and Community Health pros who have no connection to the Govt or right or left wing media.

If you do you will find the message has been consistent with the progression of this Pandemic since almost January. The problem is few have listened and that's why we are in the mess we are currently in. Too many have a political stake in this thing.

See, this is the problem with the media today. Even though it is better to have something else besides Kronkite and the other left wingers who not only won't say they're biased they don't even THINK they're biased. They just think they're right...never even considered there was another viewpoint. But these days no matter what you say you can find some to say it's a crock of dung. It's actually a good thing but too many people are intellectually lazy. It's like personal liberty. Not everyone wants it because it involves a lot of risk and personal responsibility. Some people like the cradle to grave nanny state because it takes the pressure off of them to swim instead of sink.
But don't put words in my mouth. I wear my mask and I use my hand sanitizer and wash my hands a lot. I don't go out TRYING to get infected because I'm ...oh I don't know...a DUMBASS. And by the way, one of my good friends and surfing buddies is an infectious disease specialist and he was the first one I contacted when this all started. He is a heavyweight in his field and.a.pioneer particularly in the diagnosis and treatment in the early days of HIV/AIDS. However in some ways I think that makes him less qualified to make policy decisions. Because he is so close to the one aspect he definitely has his entire focus on the disease portion and can't see the bigger societal picture. If the entire world economy goes down the drain from shutting down the whole schemeel we might as well all get Covid and die, unless of course you WANT to go back to the medieval age. We may not have many options anyway with all the other unrest we are allowing the power brokers to sell us. That's why I'm heavily armed and on my guard. Walk softly and carry...oh, and pray a LOT. I pray the rioters and looters don't come to my door but I'll pray for their souls while I send them to meet their maker.
By the way, I won't drive across a parking lot without my seatbelt but that doesn't mean I'm going to let regulations put me on the street where I'll almost certainly get Covid, or die of exposure or starvation or get shanked by another bum after the money I got begging.

But how would you know? Have you ever been tested for the flu unless you were sick? My daughter works at a retirement home and she has to be tested every 2 weeks. There was a school in the next county over from me where on kid tested (for whatever reason) positive but was asymptomatic so they tested the whole class and 12 kids tested positive and none of them were symptomatic.
But your point really just reinforces what I am saying. You get the flu and get sick as hell...one year I had type A H1N3 and I really thought I was going to die. I've only been that sick once in my life that I can remember and that was when I got salmonella from some bad chicken. AND YET we go about our lives and no entire countries shut down and somehow we survive. I'm not saying we should IGNORE Covid. In fact we really ought to be more careful about the flu. Let's face it that's what Covid is. It's just a fancy flu.
I'm not naive enough nor ignorant enough to presume that the whole thing is a hoax nor am I diminishing anyone who has it or wants to keep from getting it. What I am saying is that we can't stop the world from turning because a few people get sick. The great plague of London wiped out a quarter of the population at that time and yet there is still a London left. I'm calling BS on the way that this thing has been overinflated and how the regulations are stripping everyone's rights away to the point where if we continue like this the world economy is going to shatter. In the grand scheme of things that will be an even worse occurrence than the pandemic itself. We have to get a little clarity and stop letting the power brokers who are using this to divide us so that they can buy power turn us into chicken littles.

Boy, this is fun! I hope nobody got offended. I think it's good to talk about differences. To quote Myron from Jingle All The Way, "Sorry about the tension back there. I just got caught up in the friendly spirit of the competition."

Fancy Flu???? Wow I don't know what to say.

Sure the flu kills loads of old age types who are one foot into the grave but it doesn't kill teenagers or younger folks in great health and it's affects don't linger for months at a time after it's gone or more.

Wanna know the differences? Pay a visit to your local hospital and talk to the RNs and they'll educate you (if they let you in that is).

You need to educate YOURSELF. Study up a little bit on your history would you. The Spanish flu killed mostly young healthy people. An acute respiratory infection, caused by a virus, high fever and lots of fluid in the lungs...t's a fancy flu.

Edit: Oh, and by the way the type A flu kills plenty of younger people too with compromised immune systems and the very young even without being compromised. Have you ever had type A flu. Most people who talk the way you do never have.
