"Government "help" to business
is just as disastrous as government
persecution... the only way a
government can be of service to
national prosperity is by keeping
its hands off." - Ayn Rand
Enough said..

Ayn Rand isn't my oracle. Where Greenspan picked up his philosophy BTW.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 586I heard quite a few excerpts from the subject speech to the American school kids and I have to say that I am very disappointed (but sadly not surprised) that there are people who would criticize a message so motivational and irrefutably positive. Like it or not Barack Obama is a very impressive man. He is not only the leader of the free world and the single most powerful man on Earth, he is also a loving father who sincerely cares for the young people of the enitire world. His message was similar to things I have heard said by very important teachers of our children like Tom Chapin, Bill Cosby, Pete Seeger and Fred Rogers. I raised two girls and I was always grateful for someone with public credibility who spoke in reinforcement of the lessons I was incessantly trying to plant into the minds of the little girls I was stepfather to. When I was a kid my teachers and school principal beat me and publicly humiliated me when I questioned them. My parents were either not around or drunk and beating me too. The priests were kid touchers. My little league coach murdered his wife. My scout masters were drunk on the campouts. The President was Richard Nixon and his message to the youth of America was anything but positive. I grew up believing that anything any adult said was not only a lie but the opposite of what was true. Perhaps if there was a role model as impressive or accomplished as Barack Obama who took the time to speak to me and the other kids in schools all over the country. Maybe I would have dropped my guard and made some smarter decisions with my life. Perhaps I would be looking forward to some quality of life in retirement instead of being a 51 year old loser who has to beg for money from his family to try yet another path into the inevitable hole in the ground.
It seems to me that any parent of a child who is old enough to understand would have sat with their kid and said, "See that? There is the President of the United States of America telling you exactly the same things I've been telling you since the day you were born."

I did find it a little odd though when my kids came home with a glazed look in their eyes mumbling in unison something about worshiping at the feet of Obama and how his wish was their command...Really odd...Oh well, I'm sure its nothing to concern my self over...Silly me.
* I will worship at the feet of Obama the enlightened one. His wish is my command*
