Well, for my two cents' worth: Humankind is responsible for the spewing of millions upon millions of tons of pollution into the atmosphere -- there is virtually no doubt about this. Surely, there is destructive consquence to this pollution, just as pollutants in a river impact the plant and animal life in and near the river. So, whether you believe what the majority of professional scientific organizations say about global warming or not, you should be still be opposed to the further pollution of our planet. If we address the issue of air pollution, the global warming issue will take care of itself. I, for one, want to leave my children and grandchildren a clean, healthy Earth -- one in which the air is always safe to breath and the streams are always safe to swim in.

Silly me--citing to a well sourced wikipedia article. Perhaps I should have also included some of the following "highly suspect" sources that also say the same thing..
The US EPA Recent Climate Change - Temperature Changes | Science | Climate Change | U.S. EPA
NASA Data @ NASA GISS: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis: 2008 Annual Summation
Science Daily:Top 11 Warmest Years On Record Have All Been In Last 13 Years
NOAA: NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - NOAA: 2007 a Top Ten Warm Year for U.S. and Globe
UK National Weather Service: http://http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climatechange/policymakers/policy/slowdown.html
2009 to be one of warmest years on record: researchers | Reuters.com
Buy hey, if I were you, I wouldn't believe any of them. You know how liberal/socialist NASA and the NOAA are...

Thanked: 143Trouble is, you are arguing against a straw man. I (and I hope most others) AGREE the climate is warming! It is quite obvious. You like Wikipedia? Here: Last Glacial Maximum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Just a few thousand years ago much of what is now the civilized world was covered in thousands of feet of ice. I graduated from an upstate NY college in 1968. They no longer hold their winter Ice Carnival because it doesn't stay cold enough to support the ice sculptures which were the main attraction. In Beacon NY there is a small "mountain" (hardly worth the designation) but they used to have a ski slope there! So yes, the climate is warming.
I just DON'T believe that human activity has any significant effect. This is based on looking at past climate trends and not seeing anything unusual about the current trends.
The CRU people are manipulating data to try to show that recent human activity has made some unusual changes in the climate. It simply has not. Our pollution spewing (if you must) civilization is the RESULT of global warming, not the cause.Last edited by TexasBob; 11-30-2009 at 01:36 AM. Reason: added personal climate experience in NY State

Thanked: 431Definitely anyone who is not concerned about reducing and properly handling polution is an idiot. But if you really believe that if air pollution is addressed then the 'global warming issue' will take care of itself (maybe you need to be more specific in what that would mean) as in it would just go away, then you are very mistaken, they don't want it to go away it is their cash cow, it is a scam that they are and are militantly intent on continuing to become obscenely wealthy from. As Glen said it is all about redistribution of wealth.

Looks like some facts got in the way of your dogma. So tell me... I just cited you a number of sources that say most of warmest years on record have occurred within the last decade or so.
Your sources that say otherwise? (and remember--I did not assert that each year has gotten progressively hotter; just that most of the warmest have occurred in the past 10-12 years).
I'll be patently waiting for your reply. (snarky bon mots don't count)
