Boy do I agree with that, but I reach a different conclusion. We are paying for those folks already. I want a health care bill that will change it so we don't. I'm afraid if we don't do something, then that $300 will become $400 then $500 etc. I have friends that are saying screw it, no more insurance at these rates. As more and more do that, the price will continue to climb because the hospital is still treating the same number, but fewer are paying.

Thanked: 259you would really be surprised to find out just how little i pay in federal taxes. i changed the amount that i pay when congress started spending on
bailouts last year.
the premium i pay does NOT go to a bunch of freeloaders. i am in a pool that only pays for the members who pay insurance premiums and that is it, not one outsider gets any of the money or benefits as it should be.
i like my broad strokes of not paying for anyone who wants to freeload off everybody else..
get a job and pay insurance premiums and get health care, real plain and simple. everyone is NOT deserving of everything equal.

I suppose your insurance rep. told you that! "No, no, sir. We're not here to make money and offset our expenses, we're only interested in your well being."
I forgot -- it's so simple to just get perfectly healthy and then take a job in an industry constantly growing and unaffected by the status of the economy. I have the solution; let's just deport any citizen who is either unemployed or has a medical history/condition classified as risky by the insurance companies!
Thanks. All this time I've thought that normal people went through hard times -- now I'll sleep happy knowing that I shouldn't care about them because they're all just lazy.

Thanked: 259PAY ATTENTION, where did i say the insurance company was not making money? if they did not make money they would not be in the business very long. it is a pool, that is what i said. we also get wellness rebates if we have not filed any claims. the premiums are based on all of the members health in the pool.
as far as the people who are out of work, i will say it once more, there are many existing programs that will cover their medical care. the main reason a lot have no care is "THEY ARE LAZY" and will not look for the programs.
i know of no one and i mean "no one" that has ever been denied care if they take the time to look for and ask for help.
i have a friend who passed away last fall from cancer. he never paid for health care insurance his entire life. he said he did not need it. when he came down with cancer, he was given some of the best care available "FREE" from ST. THOMAS medical center and VANDERBILT medical center just for the asking. again there are many programs already in force for people who have no coverage. why do we need another gov't wasteful program?
one side note, name one government program here in the states that has not overrun its projected costs and is not in financial trouble.

Thanked: 431Once we can get to rationing like many other countries, then we can get rid of many of those high risk sick people.
And of course the politicians can skim off (steal) even more money.

Thanked: 234I hope you are never in a situation where you need help and every one around you is so superior they feel it's wrong to offer it. It is sad that people freeload, but it happens, ultimately how ever, you have to take the rough with the smooth in all things in life.
A much more positive attitude would be to start working on the social side of the problem, rather than just thinking of your self. I wonder how far through education you, or your kids, would have got if you had to pay for full time private tuition? Or how useful your car would be if you had to pay for all the roads around you?
I wonder indeed, who will offer their hand to you in your hour of need, and will you consider them a sinner or a saint?

Thanked: 2591. you too have missed my point as stated earlier. there is help for those that ask. those programs are paid for by my and others tax money. all you have to do is "ASK". i am not being superior, just saying that the programs already exist and why do we need another government run mess on our hands with cost overruns and waste.
2. all 3 of my daughters and step-daughters paid their own FULL tuition for college. i paid for both of my degrees FULL tuition. we did not ask for or want any help from anyone or any organization.
3. i pay taxes for road use and repair. in fact with the job i have i pay over $12,000 per year in road use tax.
4. what does religion have to do with it? the good Lord helps those who help themselves.
5. i consider my opinions as "personal responsibility" by not relying on others for my needs and wants

So you all went to private institutions for the entirety of your education, starting at kindergarten, and didn't receive any financial aid or student loans for college? Sorry man, but I'm calling complete BS on that.
More importantly, though; did college make them more liberal?

Thanked: 259can you please read my posts completely??? i said COLLEGE, not since kindergarten. quit trying to obfuscate everything. i could care less what you call BS. we took no aid at all, and all was paid without loans. we had the means to pay for it and worked our way through if more funds were needed. we are not beholding to anyone or anything.
my daughters are more conservative than i on most topics. one has over 6 years in the military as of today and is probably going to get out because of the "commander in social engineering"
