Funny, I thought is was sad after 9-11-01 when muslims were dancing in the streets as they fired their kalishnikovs into the air. Back when the Europeans said,"We are all Americans." That sentiment didn't last apparently. It is predictable that peaceniks will decry the death of this figurehead of a twisted movement. That they will seek to minimize it and to blame the victims of bin laden's evil intent for his sick vision. Regardless of where we go from here I'd say most Americans are feeling good this morning with the news that the planner and perpetrator behind the September 11th attacks is no more. So much so that someone trying "rain on the parade" is wasting their time.

My point wasn't that politicians are honest. My point is that they do whatever it takes to save their behinds, and if this isn't true then it'd be darn close to political suicide for the democrats at this point in time.

I said before that this is more than closure. I'm sorry if you disagree with the notion that leaders are important, but the realms of economics, politics, and athletics all suggest otherwise.

I think that some people who are not from the USA, are seeing this in a philosophical light. They may disagree with American foreign policy. There is nothing wrong with that. OTOH, for us here, this is a visceral event. It is tantamount to the news that Hitler died in his bunker. The three worst days in my life were the day that JFK was killed, the day my mother died, and 9-11-01. There is nothing philosophical in the gut of Americans today when they celebrate the death of this mass murderer.

I have generations of ancestors who have fought to maintain our freedoms. Every male member in my direct line, back to the early 1700's has been in the military. Maybe further back, but I haven't researched more than that. Some may even have been involved in trying to keep America a colony of Britain...Wow! Does that make me the enemy as well?! You get my point don't you? I know the business of dealing with death first hand. Do you? I don't agree with it, no matter who is dealing it out. I also don't agree with the, as previously stated, 'Gung ho', 'kill em all let god sort em out', mentality. There is no 100% satifactory solution I know. But surely with all the technology we have today, we could do much better at protecting ourselves. Those high-jackers learnt to fly in the US after-all, Bin laden didn't teach them!

First of all, "Yes I have."

You call our troops invaders, killers of women and children; then you try to paint yourself a Patriot!
I've dealt with your kind before.

I personally relish the thought of actually being the one to pull the trigger. The are some that will never understand the feelings us "barbaric Americans" have for this event. That is fine. We are the brightest shining light of freedom on the planet. That is why these back country 14th century dogs continue to attack us! They attack areas overseas too because they know Americans are there or frequent these areas. They can't stand the idea of freedom and liberty that our country represents. So bear with us as we celebrate. We are citizens, not subjects...

Funny thing, our last casualty in this war was just a couple weeks back, and new troops are getting ready to deploy as we speak.
I guess the effort is hardly needed, nor wanted then..

The soldiers out there trying to deal with this mess are no doubt brave and trying to do a good job.
That does not mean that it could not have been prevented. It is still a consequence of poor long term planning and failure of the policy makers to consider other people.

It is great that there are so many people willing to defend the US. That is a brave thing to do.

However, if you want to point fingers or make remarks, much of the current problems are earlier bad decisions coming back to bite the US in the ass and the finger should also point to the ghosts of CIA directors past, and the policy makers of those days who drove over other nations without regard, in the struggle with communism.
You can believe whatever you want to regarding U.S. involvement in matters that should or could have been handled differently. I may actually agree with you on some of the issues. I'm 50 years of age with more than a little of life experience. Without disrespect meant to you as a moderator, please spare me the history lesson.

I take issue with you siding with an individual who considers our troops invaders and killers of women and children.
You have no justification to do so.

God bless the men and women of your Country who have given their lives and time to stand with us. I will not forget, nor will I allow my son to forget the countries that picked up a sword to help.

I just wanted to say, great the bad guy is dead. But I liked the idea of this man hiding out in some cave fearing for his life better.
