This thread seems to have been going in circles for ages.
There are two sides here, and both are convinced they have the "correct" view on these matters.
Do you guys really see any point in continuing this?

Seems to me all it is capable as of now is dividing people and creating animosity.....

I think the initial question was fair, and many people answered it and that was that.

My answer, exactly the same as others, generated a lot of aggressive hostility. (Interestingly the other like responses did not., but that's a different subject entirely.)

I see no point in continuing. Lets leave it alone.

Seriously, there is basically no hope of either side convincing the other. It can be a good debate, but I am not sure there is anything new here.

With respect your point was backed up with questionable data and an attitude that because you think you're right everyone else is wrong. You may disrespect people that don't believe facts regardless of source, however facts are only as accurate as thier sources, in short if your source is questionable so are your facts.

And before you get on at me please take a look back through the thread you will see I have been pretty vocal on my thoughts against the rampant ownership of guns and it has led to.... Well lets say discussion..... The trick is. Make your arguments straight and level headed and your replies to others just as much so.

Your comments above validate the post to which you responded.

You may not know what an opinion is. That is what was asked. I expressed mine and when I was irrationally asked to support it, as I would have been had i alleged a fact rather than expressed an opinion, I courteously responded with an article that expressed my views quite nicely.

Why you found it necessary to misrepresent what is visible in the thread, I have no idea but it certainly reflects much about you.

I won't correct your false statements about facts as your falsehoods are evident on their face.

Before you attempt to instruct others on how to conduct a discussion, you'll have to stop saying things that aren't so.

That you acuse me of thinking I am right and everyone else is wrong is ugly and false. Unlike you, I accept fact. That's what educated people do.

Try arguing with fact sometime. You;ll have more success.
