I detest those who defend murderous toys and mock people who has suffered as the result of those toys being readily available. That type of person is the last person who should be allowed anywhere near a weapon since they are fundamentally ignorant of the effect that weapon can have on the lives of so many.

I also disrespect people who disregard facts, regardless of their source.

I appreciate that you tried to reach out and I may be an asshole for declining, bit I just can't do it now. Thanks anyway.

My values & ethics are subjects that you have no knowledge of and you cannot make an honest judgment on them, based upon one post that you did not like. Your anger has clouded your vision.

My feelings are not hurt,,,,,,,well maybe just a little,,,,,that you refused my friendship. My door is always open for you Keegan.

    Hey Guys

Play nice no need to be mean. Hirlau seems a nice guy (if you read the rest of the 100 something pages), no need to push any buttons.

You know what; you're right. I sound like a pompous asshole to myself.

    Let's start over.

    I accept the friendship offer.

We're on different sides of the gun control issue. That's ok. People differ.

That just proves that the criminal element chooses to use guns as a tool as opposed to knives, blunt instruments or explosives. Many countries with much lower firearm ownership rates have multiples of the US homicide rate. Then you have Canada with a similar real firearm ownership statistics has a much lower homicide rate. That indicates that there are socioeconomic factors in play that the anti-gun lobbies don't like to present as they don't jive well with their propaganda.

You know, if I really wanted to get all those who are undecided on gun control on the side of those who want controls, I'd ask them to read this thread. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot ... no pun intended.

I'm at the store buying two new guns.

Just thought you all might like to know. :-)

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

    Pics or it didn't happen

And Mr Keegan, if you have read the first 85 or so pages you will see that your arguement has already been hashed out by both sides.

But, to put it in short for you, inanimate objects are are neither inherently evil nor good. My cast iron frying pan is far more dangerous to my children in day to day use than any of my guns are.
Both are used to feed my family. One is used to obtain meat, the other to cook it.
But both do have the potential to injure people if they aren't careful so I remind my children to be careful of the pan as it is hot while in use and when not in use.can break a toe or little leg if they pull it from the stove.
Same with my guns. When they are out of the safe my children are only allowed to touch them with me around. When my children are playing with friends and those friends have toy guns I have heard my children telling other kids not to point their guns at people. Safety is my responsibility, not the govt's.

The biggest issue in America isn't the guns themselves. Most of the guns that are used in crimes are used by people who are willing to use whatever is at hand. So the real problem is that we have a large group of people who feel that they have nothing to lose and that life isn't worth much. To fix the "gun problem" in the US you would have to fix the education system and job market so that those people are no longer so marginalized that they resort to acting like animals.

Thanks for making my point. (See Post 1066)

It's amusing watching people defend the indefensible.

Your point, so far, has been nothing but a huffpost opinion along with calling guns murderous inventions.

If you agree with what I said then you agree that guns aren't the problem. There are much larger socio-economic issues at play that must be addressed but those things don't involve the guns themselves.

If you don't agree with what I've said then you agree that a cast iron pan or ball peen hammer or other inanimate is just as horrible an invention as a gun because they, too, have been used by people with murderous intentions for murderous purposes.
