I've often wondered what would happen if the world would ignore these increasingly frequent temper tantrums from these little nut-jobs in NK? I mean, they have a long-term pattern of starving their people to supply their military, then making threats during a bad winter or famine. We give them billions in wheat/oil/aid to shut up for awhile (as Clinton did during the 90's), and like the spoiled brat at Wal-Mart, they learn to keep squawling because sooner or later they will get what they want.

Granted, they have now WAY upped the dangerous rhetoric, and they have attacked SK before. Still, it might be an interesting experiment to try for a while-it would probably drive them nuts; not like they listen to reason anyway.

All the predictable chest-puffing jingoism aside, I pray to God they don't 'go there' by playing the nuclear card. The chain of events that could unleash is too frightening to contemplate. No doubt it would be suicide for the world's last Stalinesque communist dictatorship, but how many dominoes would have to fall before it could be stopped?

That reminds me, anyone see Team America, World Police? Made by the makers of South Park, it's crude, vulgar, and raunchy; but extremely funny. They nailed their version of KJI. I'll post a clip below, but!!! The "F" word is used, once, in the very first sentence. The rest is clean.

The problem with the Middle East goes back to WWI, when the British, French and Russian governments secretly went back on their promises that they made to T.E. Lawrence and the Arab resistance against the Ottoman Empire.

The last dates I heard showed evidence of warfare back 12000 years ..

So the obvious solution..... end civilization, pure, simple and affordable. it will probably end global warming, the fiscal cliff, peak oil and a whole host of other problems like: cancer, drug addiction, poverty and HIV.

    enjoy,

The subject has veered slightly from NK to Iran and a bit of a different situation. The attitude displayed by Iran and shared by a lot of governments in the Mid East is the result of the seeds sown and fertilized by the colonial powers and their successors by their action in that region. Stir in a good bit of religious fanaticism that takes advantage of the general discontent and you have a breeding ground for terrorists. A poor, in the sense that people are not dogs, but easily understood analogy is that if you abuse a dog long enough it will eventually bite you. The current situation should not be a surprise to anyone in the west. That is NOT a justification for what is happening, merely how I think we got here. The lack of respect and the amount of distrust displayed by both sides is going to make the situation extremely hard to resolve.

This makes an interesting read in establishing when Iran started down the nuclear development path and who initially aided them WPONAC: Iran's Nuclear Program. It started in the early 1970s under the Shah's rule and was aided by the west. Surprise, surprise, the west put the Shah in power.
