Thanked: 234I still enjoy a cold cider, but can't drink much of it. I drink beer with some regularity because I can drink scotch after and not mix my drinks.
I enjoy wine with a meal, but I rarely drink it away from the table.
Whiskey is absolutely my drink of choice.

Up until about 10 years ago I was mainly a Bud Lite man with an occasional foreign dark beer. I started tasting and experimenting with the hard stuff and tried maybe a couple hundred or even more bottles of this and that. I found I liked Bourbon, Tequila, and Rum. I also liked Vodka in mixed drinks. I never could get a taste for Gin or Scotch. Gin was too bitter and Scotch was too Smokey for me.
I now have a beer once in a great while but have settled on Premium Tequila as my libation of choice. I still drink Bourbon and Rum on occasion and have them on my bar. I was watching Moby Dick the other night in a movie and just had to have a couple El Dorado 21yr Rums for the mood. The men on the ship were having a bunch of it at the time.

I mentioned earlier in the thread ...........
Jagermiester and lots of it .. straight from the freezer .
Update .... I have been trying some premium Rums which I gotta admit can actually be compared to a fine Malt Whisky ..
Ideally I'd love to try some more of these but lord they're expensive in the UK
Update II ... I've once again started taking a glass , maybe two if the occasion allows -- A fine Malt , Last month it was an Arran Malt A little raw needed 2 cubes of ice
This month . I'm having a 14 yr Old Scapa -- this I cannot recommend highly enough again 2 cubes of ice or 1 depending on your taste
Next month I'm searching for another Arran Malt .. I might actually jump on the Ferry and visit the Distillery shop .. Only an hour away :-)
sounds devine or perhaps OOOOO is the bar open yet ...
Remember Drink responsibly : always make sure you have enought left over to get wasted the next morning
cheers .. Garry

Thanked: 20Interesting about the prairie fire, I've heard of it up here as what I call an "i'm tougher than you (or dumber)"drink. it involves salt, a shot of tequila, and a slice of lemon or lime. you snort the salt, pound the shot, then squeeze the lemon into your eyes. yeah, kinda on par with a cement mixer, but more masochistic
for me, most beers are good, as is a cold jeager, or rum and ginger beer. good hot day drink. the new coffee baileys isn't that bad either. as long as the flavor is good, I'm in.

I usually enjoy a nice glass of Port (it is, as you all know, made in Portugal). I also like some other liqueurs - these are quite common here, in Portugal. But very little things strike me as being as enjoyable as the already mentioned Port, the Madeira Wine (also Portuguese, from the island of Madeira) or a glass of one of the many astonishing wines made in my delightful little country. I also enjoy Whisky being it scotch or irish. I enjoy a bourbon once in a while, though it is more my brother's turf... But to accompany a light summer meal or a desert, I suggest a glass of Lambrusco, an italian pink fizzy wine from Modena. Very good...
