At close range it does more damage than any of us would have believed.
Those stats were for the US only and not over a very long period of time iirc in comparison to 130 odd years of the 7.62X54R being used in WWI, the Russian revolution, WWII and virtually every conflict globally up to and including the present in the Dragunov SVD sniping rifles and the GPMG Russian PK variants.

Can a 22RF be deadly, certainly. As deadly as the 7.62x54R, not too likely.

Whilst in Sierra Leone we took munitions from the Rebels the “West Side Boys“ including hundreds of AK47s. One day my Troop decided that we could put them to good use. I put so many rounds down with one AK that I had to wrap my hat around the barrel grip to stop it burning my hand. Not one jam neither. They are highly reliable and requires little maintenance, you could literally pull one out of the mud and start firing away. Their only downfall is they are not particularly accurate as they kick like a mule comparatively speaking.

Wading into the 7.62 vs .22 discussion, if hit by a 7.62 round it will push all the tissue, cartilage, muscle and bone out the other side, leaving a huge exit wound. A .22 round will tumble upon impact. Get hit in the arm with a 7.62 you’ll bleed to death, get hit in the arm with a .22 and you’ll live to tell the grandkids.

I really didn't think that guns used in war were part of that study, I would think homicides, and such....

Ordered a new rifle yesterday. I have been wanting a lever action rifle for some time now. I have previously owned several Winchester 92 and Marlins in 30-30, but traded them all off.

After researching for months, I decided on a Henry case hardened big boy carbine in .44 magnum. Now the wait on snail mail as I ordered it yesterday. I will post some pics when I have it in hand.

Has anyone tried to buy a semi-auto pistol lately?

I have been wanting a Springfield for years, but they were always Non Compliant in Massachusetts.
    They recently became compliant.
I an trying to buy an XDS mod. 2

The problem is no shops, local or online have any inventory, always "Out of Stock."
Not one semi auto pistol on display in Cabelas.
    Very strange indeed.

Does anyone know about a National Shortage?

    Also any opinions on Springfield?
They have always been the dangling carrot that I could never get.

Not sure on shortages cause I haven’t bought one in a while, but if you someone who owns an XD Springfield I’ll tell ya, it’s been my daily carry for 15 years I think, it’s been a long time. I have many choices but this one stays on the hip the most. Totally reliable, but full disclosure it’s been worked over,ie trigger slides lugs, and all surfaces, smoothed out ramp. New barrel. Was a great shooter from the get but I like to play. Mines had several thousand rounds thru it and no FTF or FTE. I caN keep all 13 rounds in. 4” circle at 20 yards. Would never hesitate to buy another if it came up.

Now I have a really nice Glock that just got back from the smith, easily can be a favorite. And if anyone ever comes to me with a Sig .357 I’ll get it.

The Glock is a 10 mm and knock down beast. I had a three toned cercoate job done on it, fixed the terrible trigger they have , polished ,ported, and a new stainless fluted barrel, gonna order a new leather holster so I can carry it proud,

Yes, and they have some nice new ones listed.
I just have to coordinate delivery with a FFL dealer willing to do the transfer.
Shouldn't be too hard. They have a pretty good list of guys in the area

I will work on that tomorrow.
