Thanked: 43Windows 7
The problem with Windows is it runs pretty alright when you first install it and don't put any new software on it, update it or surf.
Macs, while not problem free, just seem to keep on running.
Apologists will say it's because Windoze has to work with so many other pieces of software and OS X doesn't. I don't know why Windoze users don't demand more for their money. Redmond never really cared to put out a product that was safe, efficient or would work. They concentrated on selling it to as many vendors for as cheaply as possible. Hence everyone's familiarity with the blue screen do death.
I installed Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro and contrary to their commercials it's still junk. I've had it on there a month and it locks up on start up and won't wake up from sleep very well.
It's nice to look at and it's faster than Vista and it's still the same old attempt to polish a turd.
I only boot it up when someone with Windows 7 needs me to talk them through a problem.
Macintosh is the best and always will be the best.

plus there are still no known viruses right?
That is stress off your back that you need to deal with and live in fear of with windows.

Speaking of turd polishing, I got the mess removed from my old system (which is now strictly for games & the like), but it took bloody long enough! Almost no malware for Macs--& even if someone does release a mac virus, the Cupertino lot quickly come out w/ a fix in a software update!
OT, but worth mentioning: the only reason anti-malware programs exist for Macs is if you install Windows programs on them via Bootcamp or Parallells or that other one. The malware will infect windows & its components only, however. I have no plan to run windows on my Mac.

At work i use XP, but at home i have both MacBook and XP. Mac is somewhat easier to use. However there is just few things that wont run with Mac (without using Boot camp). On the day i find out how to deal with those few programs with Mac i will turn my old XP into Ubuntu. My kids and wife have Vistas but i wouldn't touch them even with a long stick.
For some reason my network station (Buffalo) wont run properly with Mac.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Thanked: 6Long-time PC user here that switched to Mac in October of 2008.
NEVER going back to a PC.
You really don't know how badly they suck until you've used a Mac for a few weeks.

Thanked: 0Love the Mac
I am back in the Mac fold. Somehow I got pulled over to the dark side for a few years. Surprised I didn't start drinking Budweiser too! Am now back in the Mac fold. Don't know what the heck I was thinking. Cheers!

Thanked: 1Have had a 13" Macbook since they switched to Intel processors in 2006. Love using it. Still runs great. Any time I've had the slightest problem, I took it to the Mac store and they were unbelievably friendly at the Genius bar, sometimes even replacing parts for free after the warranty had expired. Recently, the fan on mine died. Ended up being I was able to fix it on my own (not something I would have thought to be within my skill set) for the price of a $20 fan. Definitely a believer.

Mac Since '85
...
My first Mac was a Macintosh Platinum Plus that I bought in 1985. I have been an avid MacManiac since day one.
i am typing this on my 17" MacBook Pro ... the best laptop on the market. The college where I teach just put a new 21" iMac on my desk and I'm in heaven.
I have been forced at times in my career to step in to the dark side. I am proficient with both platforms however, the Mac is by far the best machine on the market.
I'm old enough that the "gaming generation" passed me by so that is not an issue. Publishing, Keynote presentations, video production, music ... it's all good.
