Razorfaust-- three great choices. You can tell the type of tobacco I'm smoking by the color of my pipe. Brown pipes are reserved for Virginia Periques and black pipes are for Latakia's. Used to smoke just Latakia blends but switched to mainly Virginia/Periques about 5-years ago. Seem to reserve Latakia's for the winter months, now.

Since you have a Peterson, you'll need to try Peterson's University Flake another great tobacco.

    Enjoy.

Im enjoying this little Passatore, Fatta A Mano at the moment. Very nice draw and wonderfully perfect for a quick lunch.

i think that light and robust sweet virginias with a light toping a little bit of perique are best for begining .
No aromatics q no dark ropes as they can make you white as snow , no Nightcap
get a tin of Golden slice of Orlik or Dunhill flake or Urly morning pipe .
if you ask me Get a tin of Solani 633 perique flake - its a real class , one of the best vapers ever
Very true. You can't deny it has a robust flavour, but you're right, not really a good choice of first pipe tobacco. One to work up to. I reckon the ideal is to find a place that does 10g samples so you can try a lot of different things without spending a fortune. Black twist was about the fourth tobacco I ever tried and I loved it right away, but it is very strong.

. Because it is so subjective it's easier to have something to go by first because a Latakia fan will probably balk if an Aromatic fan urges them to try a popular Aromatic because it's that good and vice versa. Probably doesn't help for advice so I guess I would ask...do you like strong or mild smoke first ?

So,let me amend that statement. It looks like you fancy English....here is a must try then IMHO. Boswells Northwoods. Welcome to Boswells

    Fantastic smoke !

Last night a good long bowl of Haddos Delight and some Jack Daniels to wrap up the day. Totally different smoke than the english. A nice rich flavor and for whatever reason took much longer to smoke.
