Been looking at all your post here and...I got the itch. Question is...Filtered or no filter? Any other suggestions would be welcomed, this would be my first.

The only filter I have liked have been the Savinelli balsa filters as they don't seem to affect the draw or taste but are reported to filter out a large percentage of the tar. With that said, I only have one with a filter. I prefer non filtered but I don't inhale so I am not too worried about a filter. It's all personal preference though.

I have two Savinelli pipes which can use the balsa filters but never do. It is a mess for one thing and i don't like the way the pipe smokes.

The old paper filters that were used in drug store pipes were even a bigger mess. I do not know if they are still made.

Wow. I would say so! It all sounds delicious. Would love to see a pic of that!

Thanks Gents! It was a great day. I got some things squared away around the house and got to spend time with my great family.

    I've gone and done it.

I ordered a RC Poker made from Olive Wood with a silver accent ring and a semi-translucent green stem from a local pipe maker. I should receive it before the end of the month.

Olive wood is cheaper than Briar and although the price difference is really negligible, I wanted something unique and the patterning in Olive wood will certainly give me that. If I like the pipe and it agrees with me, then I'll order a briar bowl down the road.
