Just normal fold and stuff but before I load the pipe I take the folded flake between my fingers and lightly rub the tobacco out just a little, so the flake is still together but kinda roughed up (if that makes any sense at all ) I like this method works good for me. It does take a little practice to get used to. It is easy to overload a pipe this way.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried flake tobacco yet, but hope to at some point.

Lovat has a saddle stem while Canadian does not.

I was listening to The Allman Brothers on a turntable. I loaded film into my camera, poured fuel into my zippo, packed my pipe and stropped my razor. On occaision I've locked myself in the office and reloaded more rounds than I'll ever live to fire. My ex thinks I'm crazy. My offspring think I'm eccentric but, charming. Others say luddite or anachronism. I prefer "traditionalist". Newer ain't always better! But, life is rich and "Walter" is my hero. Against the grain my brother!

Oops i happily forgot. No worries. I'll surprise when she least expects IWD is not so popular here; just one of those 'imported' celebrations. All my respects for the women, and specially mine: after being together with the lady for so long time it is more like everyday is the women's day.

Another beautiful pipes introduced in this thread. The one on the right looks interesting with the nice shank. What is it made of?
I know that there are pipes with such shank is made of horn, but those would be out-of-budget for me. This must be something else. Bamboo?
