Thanked: 1185Yes, bamboo. I wanted one of these pipes for a long time and searched ebay extensively for a couple years until I found this one and was lucky enough to win it for just under $20. After a fairly extensive clean up and restoration, it was good to go. I've been smoking it every since.
Figured I'd start the day a little lighter than usual this morning with some Edward's Honey-Bucc (an aromatic) in a Kaywoodie Flame Grain Bent Bulldog. For later, I'm also packing a Doodler and some Old Joe KrantzThe older I get, the better I was

Alex,
What a gorgeous and "proper English pipe". My favorite shape. But tell me...is it a quarter bent bulldog or, a Rhodesian?

So, as I know, Rhodesian has the straight mouthpiece. This one is Bullmoose. And Rhodesian and Bullmoose are Bulldogs.Alex Ts.

Nice to see so many pipe smokers here!
Tonight I had a bowl of McCranie's Red Ribbon in a Peterson Mark Twain.

I've been thinking about this question for few days now. Tried to find the answer from various sources and finally i had to ask from our local tobacco shop.
Now i know (with say 10% confidence ) that Bent Bulldog = Rhodesian.
More opinions desperately needed !
But what is the definition of Bullmoose'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Gents,
My intent is not to cause controversy or, contradict anyone. But, this is an interesting discussion to me. One reason...these pipes happen to be my favorite shape. Second reason is, I would like to be correct.
My take right now is (I'm open to correction and discussion):
Thomas' Les Wood with straight, diamond shank is definately a Bulldog.
Alex' GBD is a Rhodesian for the reason of a quarter bend and maybe because of the round shank. But...can still be classified as a Bulldog because of the bowl? I'm not sure if round or square shank makes a difference?
Bullmoose is the most inclusive definition which includes all shapes with short, squat bowls?? My quarter bent Savinelli Porto Cervo would fall under this definition and it has an apple shaped bowl.Last edited by oldschooltools; 03-10-2011 at 05:59 PM. Reason: misspelled words
