Was in So Cal yesterday for work, used the opportunity to roll into Beverly Hills to check out Kramer's Pipe and Tobacco Shop. Took a cell phone pic from the outside. This shop is old school. I picked up a few ounces of one of their blends they call Father Dempsey, which is an English blend that I hear is supposed to be really good. I also picked up a Nording Woodcock pipe from Nording's hunter series that the shop had on display. I plan of giving both a try sometime this weekend. The pic of the pipe and tobacco was taken at the airport yesterday.

    Nuno,

That is very beautiful and special pipe. Presbyterian is another of my favorites too.

Howevers. Friday evening at 10 pm here. It is still very warm outside (15 C/59 F) so it is time to sit on the backdoor and enjoy a Saramago book.
Enjoying Tillerman flakes from Tom Eltang/Stanwell 1985. Having a botlle of Schmucker Bock on the side.

WOW Saramago in Finnish! That´s new to me could you translate the name of the book to English please. I only read "Stone Raft" and i liked it a lot, but you have to get into is style of writing and it´s not easy.

The crop has been in the ground for a couple of days. 4 varieties. the one that I want to get seed from , Pennsylvania Red had 3 of the 5 plants eaten off. Rabbits? Slight hope yet. May have to seed the Havana.

Father Dempsey, an English blend, in the Nording Woodcock, and Lagunitas Night Time Ale. Good beer, pipe, and tobacco

The book is 'Ensaio sobre a lucidez' (Finnish: Kertomus näkevistä/ A story of those who see). Sort of an independent sequel to 'Ensaio sobre a Cegueira' (A story of those who were blind). Great read, both of them.

I've read most, but not all, of Saramagos work. The style needs really some work, but once you get it, it's really rewarding experience.
He is (or sadly was) one of the great modern writers, along with the names like Peter Høeg of Denmark or Richard Ford and Jim Harrison from USA. And so many others.

With the books aside, it's time for an evening pipe. Great oriental: Tuarekh from Leonardo Bombarda. Red Rooster ale as a 'chauffeur kid' (as we say here).
