I too have yet to find it at a reasonable price. So I keep hoping it will show up in stock at some of the big retailers but so far no good. if you don't mind paying a premium for it check out Pipestud he carries lots of aged tobaccos and many Esoterica blends from time to time but it comes with a price. Maybe some of the other guys know more. Good Luck its certainly a lovely tobacco.

Being a pipe smoker: It's unique.....now cigarettes you don't really smoke to contemplate . I've been a cigarette smoker twice for years and I can tell you ,unless you count in worrying and stressing out as contemplative well......eh eh, not.

Chewing tobacco you don't really contemplate either, not really,it's more like you do it too help keep ya moving like when your doing something like I don't know, pulling fences maybe.

Cigars aren't really contemplative either but they can be....although they are to be more enjoyed compared to the latter two. I don't mean to speak for or insult the cigarists in any way it's just that cigars, are more like when you play poker or are enjoying the night life or celebrating, you light up a fine cigar or when you are planning your next battle move or are riding your horse into battle or when you want to look statesmen like you light that fine cigar up. Although many a world war one soldier smoked pipes before going over the top, just sayin. This includes also when after you have blown up the Martian mother ship and you celebrate the fact that your crazy backside has survived , you high five it and then light up a cigar. And of course when enjoying a good fine spirit, a cigar is your friend.

but a pipe and okay let's be honest....I'm biased here, might as well admit it.....a pipe when you are standing in the middle of the forest or looking out to sea you light up to contemplate for long periods of time the horizon or solitude. When you paint a painting for the Saturday evening post you are smoking a pipe(my distant cousin Norman Rockwell for example) when you are inking a Tattoo on some rough individual at least back in the old days, you'de be having a pipe hang outta yer mouth. When you were examining floor plans or Rocket blue prints or planning the design of the next Disneyland exhibit guess what .....pipe smoker. Walt was a piper .

When yer all sitting around the potbellied stove telling true stories about the whale you single handedly caught and we believe you of course why? Cause your a pipe smoker and so are we. Now, the exception is if your Mark Twain cause he smoked both a cigar and a pipe so he gets Carte Blanche cause....well , he's Mark Twain so, he does. If you are a pirate sitting in a port Tavern drinking Rum and listening to Sea shanties while wenches dance about with handfuls of tankards filled with Spirits chances are you are smoking a clay pipe. And if you are in the Northwoods with your Rangers getting yer muskets ready for the ambush ,chances are you gotta short clay pipe hangin.

Fathers day and Ward cleaver....pipe smoker. Santa Clause,Pipe smoker. Magical Elves and Dwarves and of course Hobbits....pipe smoker. Yep, pipe smokers we are and pipe smokers we shall die and at our wakes their will be pipe smokers contemplating and telling of our great deeds and antics as pipe smokers. So..........did I lay it on thick enough for all us pipe smokers or should it have been more embellished ?? Light that pipe up and think about it. CHEERS !!

Thoughtful words certainly worth pondering over a favorite pipe. Don't forget the steely eyed ship Capt. puffing calmly while observing a massive squall approaching his vessel. I also think that pipes and cigars are cousins to each other albeit of a slightly different temperament. Many a cigar smoker has been converted to the pipe, attracted by complexity and flavors not as common to the cigar genre. Not to mention some degree of control over a smoke session long smoke vs shorter without having to change your tools necessarily. I could also say the same thing about pipe smokers going the other way ditching the pipe with all its quirky maintenance requirements and just lighting a fine cigar and enjoying the moment without the worry of gurgly bowls, clogged shanks and overheated briar. I am a pipe fan at the moment but am quite happy with either instrument of tobacco pleasure. Quite happy indeed, its great to have choices.

Cool post. My father smoked cigarettes from the age of 15 until he was 40. Then he switched to pipes and cigars. I was born when he was 49 so I only know this from his telling me, though I do dimly remember the cigars. The last 30 or so years of his life was strictly pipes, and he didn't inhale. I began smoking for real at about 15 though I'd dabbled in cigarettes and 'Have A Tampa' cigars as early as 13.

I began smoking pipes to quit the Camel non filters at about 28 and ended up smoking both. I also smoked cigars when a box of 25 Partagas # 10s was $25.00. Chewed tobacco and dipped many a tin of Copenhagen. Started that when a tin was $0.35. I smoked cigs for 36 years. Finally quit in 2000 and became a dedicated, and I mean dedicated pipe smoker.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
