Platte valley. A very interesting pale and young corn whisky. Highly recommended.

I'm drinking some tax-stamped Old Grand-Dad 86 proof that I found sitting on a (very) dusty shelf in an LA liquor store. I'm no expert, but based on the tax stamp and the the label, I'd guess it's from the 1980s. It's terrific stuff -- I prefer it to current Old Grand Dad. Next up is some 86 proof Old Taylor that I found at another store. No tax stamp, but it's definitely not the same as modern Old Taylor (it has a maple syrup quality, for lack of a better term).

Been drinking Evan Williams. It's not too fancy, but it's pretty good quality for cheap. And they're just across the river from me too

Tonycraigo,
To clarify, I wasn't suggesting that the bourbon has benefited by sitting in a bottle since the 1980s. Rather, I think that some bourbon made in the 1970s/80s (and maybe earlier -- I don't know from experience) tastes different, and to my palate, better than a lot of current production bourbon. As an example, there was an excess supply of bourbon back then, so some whiskey was aged for longer than the age statement on the label.
