Thanked: 37Nice thread Nightblade. I have always appreciated russian language and literarure. There are sites where you can learn russian and make friends while doing so. I hope to visit Russia in the next years. The Mosfilm site has really nice movies, some with english subtitles. I started studying on my own about three years ago as a hobby. I learned french kind of this way too, so my learning experience is similar. I am able to read russian, and I speak it, kind of like tarzan, but russian people (very kindly) can understand me. I'm planning the trip which I hope will be a fine cultural experience.

Thanked: 1160My russian is not stellar, but If I were more immersed in it I probably would be alot better.I love their artists. Dabbled in the literature and cook alot of russian style foods.I also watch russian films all the time and alot of times without subtitles just to see how much I get out of the actual movie I'm watching at the time. Driver for Vera and 9 Rota are my two latest favorites. I know a few russians here in the states as well that I talk to alot. The culture has definitely influenced my paintings alot as well
