Hey, just accidently ran into this topic. I'm russian myself and I live in Saint-Petersburg. It's always a pleasure to hear from people who are into russian culture without being russian themselves. I like kvass too, cause probably unlike many fellow russians I don't really drink alcohol and this stuff is made for hot weather. When you pull it out the fridge with little water drops on the bottle, nice and cold...ummmmmm. Modern Russia is difficult to describe, you need to come and visit to see it. A good sense of humor is the only way you will survive this trip haha By the way, my razor is american, it's a Simmons Keen Kutter.

I'm not Russian but I frequent the Russian deli and Bakery in town because it is awesome. And they think I'm crazy.

Thanked: 2027Nightblade,We Russians do not drink tea,we drink Chaya (AKA TEA,but it has to be done right, the Samovar is mandatory (I have my babonaskas ready at all times),than one needs the proper vessels (not tea cups).
A water glass will suffice, but than you need the Podstakannik to hold the glass,if you use sugar,it has to be sugar cubes,we do not do lemon slices, thats so neanderthal.
A little Chaya,a little poska,maybe a bowl of Lapsha,life is good

Thanked: 1160Podstakannik are very expensive and hard to find here as are good Samovars. As for Russian tea,I like mine with a little Jam and maybe a Blini or two . Otherwise I drink all kinds of Tea...right now I am having a very nice Jasmine tea,but I enjoy Indian Chai,British style with cream and sugar,Russian style with Jam,Asian with no sweetener at all . But that is another thread entirely see the thread I posted called Tea anyone ? Welcome my friend !
