They come in Mechanical and Quartz versions. The Quartz versions run better than 10 sec. a year and are designed to run for around 40 years without service (excluding battery change of course).

One thing to keep in mind, as Brenngun pointed out earlier, with Omega and Grand Seiko and many others, if you can, buy pre-owned, much better price, as if you buy new, you'll take a beating on price the instant you walk out the door, at least a third of the price if not more.

Yea, watch the ads on Timezone that's where most of the watch collectors hang out. Most of those folks really baby their watches and you can pick up a used piece that will be almost in new condition at a good discount and you have a three day right of return for any reason.

As to the Grand Seiko Mechanicals they start upwards of 3 grand new and go up into 5 figures easily if you opt for precious metals. You can usually get 10% off. I have a guy in Japan I deal with and he can obtain any Seiko and can get a better discount. PM me if you want the info.

I've always been a fan of Seiko and Grand Seiko. You will never get a second look and if you tell someone how much you paid for one they'll look at you like you were crazy.

I doubt I would buy from an AD unless it’s a really good price, I purchased my Tudor from a Grey Dealer and it came brand new with all paperwork and pretty much a full warranty as I got it in the first part of May and warranty card was dated the last of Jan 2019 so only lost 3 months and I saved a pretty fair amount over an AD

If you purchased grey market you have no factory warranty whether the card is there or not. Normally grey market dealers have their own warranty which matches the factory one. If you have a valid factory warranty it ain't grey market.

You just need to be careful because if you buy a watch with an unusual or in house mvmt and you need service the grey market repair outfit will never be able to get the parts or at least the original parts, maybe chinese knockoffs. Also, the quality of some grey market repair outfits can be a big issue.

I purchased my Tudor from a dealer thru Chrono24 and the watch was purchased from the international Airport in Greece ( that is what is on the warranty card ) but no name on the card.

I specifically asked the seller ( watchshopping.com ) if it had a factory warranty and they advised I had the remainder of the factory warranty and I purchased in April and warranty card dated 1-27-19, upon getting the watch it was NIB with all tags and protection in place and had never been worn ( they only sell new ) and I took it over the to local Rolex AD to inquire about service and they advised after seeing the warranty card and watch they would take care of any issues during the remainder of the warranty and I said the card has no name on it and they said it does not matter as long as the date is there and I have the card, so if this is not a Grey Dealer what is it considered to be.
