If you went and joined The Rolex Forum, told your story, showed some pics of the watch - bet you'd hear a much different story from the real collectors who know what these things go for, I could be wrong, but from what I've heard, and if they're like any of the others I've seen on that forum, I'd say value is much higher.

The PX sold mostly run of the mill watches you could buy anywhere just cheaper, sometimes.

If you were lucky you got a limited edition or limited production. Those are the ones you see going for astronomical prices used.

Also, when you go into a watch shop and say "how much you give me for this" the guy over the counter is assuming you know jack and will rip you off any way to Sunday. Even if you have a more pedestrian watch and he is really honest he will probably give you half what he expects to get for it.

Didn't the Military PX's sell the Rolex's that were designated with a T in a Circle if I recall correctly.

If it's not designated with this mark, the Rolex's that have seen service, are all original - no replacement parts, "patina" faded beat up dial - are worth serious dollars - Google search vintage Rolex and for the life of me, two will look almost the same, one will go for $8,000 and the other for $60,000 - some of them are occasionally for sale on the TRF site, but a Google search will show you some examples.

Here's an interesting article on the Military Rolex:

I'm no Rolex expert. I've never owned one and never will. I would guess that comes under limited production.

The Rolex world is a crazy world devoid of any semblance of reason. Folks who collect them are very flush with cash and will spend whatever to get one.

New "common" models have a waiting list years long and people are getting theirs and turning around and selling them for thousands more.

Watches, straight razors and the newest? Ferkin' GPU's...video cards!!!

I built a new PC (been about 15 years since I built one), got her built, I can give specs later if anyone interested, then built it again you know, because....

New there was a GPU Graphic Card shortage due to the miners, bots and scalpers, but got a great EVGA RTX 3080 ti FTW3 Ultra to replace my 2060 from being an Elite EVGA Forum member. What a beast the 3080 ti is. When you joined, you could Spine the Wheel to Save - I got 40% my next purchase - 40% off a $1,400 USD GPU was a good thing.

People are equally going nuts on these as well - ebay selling them, and people are buying them - 3, 4 x MSRP - another world of madness.

But yea, Rolex, Patek - people paying $110,000 USD for a Patek Nautilus watch that retails for $32,000.....

We had one dude in the EVGA Q with us, seemed like a real great guy, he started another Q list where you could enter your time, and he'd encourage others all over Reddit and on the list to use his associates code (for doing a list another member had been doing for years, you get EVGA dollars if someone uses your code, and lots did for this dick) - two days later, another member spots this areshole with the card he got popping it for sale on eBay, that he basically got for free so many using his associate code, he's also on Reddit, no ferkin' shame this dick, one thread he's raging against the machine about these scummy scalpers, next he gets caught red handed doing the same thing....smh...and selling the $1,400 GPU for $3,900 and get's it.

Now that's a different level of how low the scum can sink....lol

Many Rolex dealers are selling the watches minus the warranty cards and documents. That's so you can't turn around and sell it for a quick profit. They tell customers to come back in a year to get their documents.

For those occasions where a dark suit, silk tie, white shirt and gold cufflinks are required.

Zenith is a Primo Brand going way back in the 1800s. They make their own mvmts and the El Primero is famous. They never had much presence in the U.S until more recently.

Not to digress but that "T" on the Rolex a few posts up means Tritium on the dial.
