If you like gambling, then you will love Invictas, I've built a buying them on off quite some time. In the late 90s they turned out great watch and the customer service was fine, However as they got more popular their quality control got pretty much nonexistent, however, if you buy them from shop NBC to get a five-year warranty and if you have the patience they will send you your watch back fixed. Although when a new model comes out it's usually their best attempt. I started with their first Ocean ghost which is an exact copy of the Rolex stainless and gold date just and is as nice as the Rolex in every possible way(42 g of solid Italian gold) except the name. I've also bought all their new Sub Aqua but the first versions that came with 7750s and 7751, those I've had no problems with however some of the other watches I bought had to be returned to shop NBC and others I sent back to Invicta to be repaired and eventually got them although sometimes it took several phone calls and up to eight weeks. If you're careful with what you buy can do pretty good, my best example was an automatic See Vulture with a ETA 2894 – two for about 800 bucks, and it's a dead ringer right down to the movement of a MOMA which was going for 10 grand. Some of their watches are as good as I Rolex, IWC, Tissot, and other high-end watches, and lots are junk, but they do make some fun watches that look great and are cheap enough that you don't care if you wreck them. Just my humble opinion.

Thanked: 369Hmmm, well, not sure I feel any more confident about the Invictas. Opinions here seem to mirror what I've read elsewhere that Invicta is a crap shoot. Dunno, the Subaqua that I like is going for $275 on Amazon, but for about $125 less I could get another G-Shock GW-7900B which I've had for almost two years and has performed flawlessly. Looks great too.
To date my favorite watch is my Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Calendar BL8080-55E.

That is a great link, some old names. My father was especially fond of Benrus as work watch, I remember him having a bunch of them because he knew someone that worked for them, and they must not have been expensive as when they broke, he would just pull out another. The only problem with some of these vintage watches as they are very small, and just don't look right and my eyes are a little older than they used to be. So I have no problem wearing 40 mm or up.

Benrus was started to compete with Bulova just their watches weren't quite as good or expensive.
Buying vintage watches is a leap of faith unless you know a thing or two about them. It's too easy to get something that stops on you or doesn't run well and then the repair cost exceeds the price you pay for it and that assumes the parts are still available. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
