I recently removed my 00 Buck & replaced it with Hornady 00 Buck, stepping out at 1600,,,I like the extra energy & there are good reviews on the grouping.

i was thinking bout getting some of that .. i think it also comes in a low recoil round ...
the hornadys i have are about 1350fps , the federal 00buck low recoil is about 1100 fps ...
some of the gel ballistic test i saw you could see a diff in the velocity s but i noticed on the range that with the low recoil it was a lot faster time getting back on target ,, i guess its a give and take either way you look at it , but im pretty sure 2 to the chest of either round is gonna have the same result ..lol

Dunno what the ballistics were in 1890, but when Marshall Heck Thomas apprehended Bill Doolin the 00 buck did the trick.

According to what I've read, Heck Thomas used a double bbl shotgun. I suppose Thomas gave him both barrels. Then again, a google search yielded this account from badhombres.com.
Doolin then rode to Mexico and hid out at the ranch of writer Eugene Manlove Rhodes, but he missed his wife and child and was bound and determined to have them with him. He then rode back to his family in Lawton, OK. On the night of August 25, 1896, Doolin was riding to his father-in-law's farmhouse, where his wife and child were staying. A posse, led by Heck Thomas, heard that Doolin was in the area so they were waiting for him. Doolin came up, on foot leading his horse and carrying his rifle, whistling as he walked in the moonlit night. The Thomas shouted from behind some bushes, calling Doolin to surrender. Doolin raised his rifle, which was quickly shot out of his hands by the posse. He then pulled his six-gun and fired twice before being killed instantly by a blast from Deputy Bill Dunn's shotgun and rifle fire from Thomas. As was customary of those days, Doolin's dead body was displayed, with his shirt off, to show his fatal wounds.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
