Thanked: 125Here is my design:
I've got it at around 2 7/8" cutting length, 6" overall, 1/2" shank w/ barbers notch. I spent most of my time working this on figuring out Google's Sketchit program, so I only have a basic shape worked out so far.

This is just a thought so feel free to tear me down, but perhaps a basic blank design which those of us with greater ambitions could all take our own inspiration and modify. Of course after the test run we could become more ambitious at Del1r1um's discretion and abilities
Sort of like the SRP Wapi or Gold Dollar.
Perhaps one basic design with a smile and another straight line one?

A straight backed generic square point design would serve all of us, we will have to grind it to profile anyway, we can grind our own tip just as easily...
however as long as the offer is out there, I won't pass on the opportunity to have several generic designs to play with

we can certainly do one generic blank design that will leave everyone enough room to play with, that is no problem at all and I think it's a good idea. But if any of you that are on the list have your own design that you really want to try out, it will be possible to do a bunch of generics and your design on the same run. So, I'll try to mock a squarish generic master blank, but by all means keep your ideas coming.
That being said, I'll let you guys put in your votes for the initial run... would you rather have A whole run of generic blanks shaped with room for mods (maybe two generic designs), or have each person does something of their own design?
Here I was just playing with a smiling humpback shape... just for fun

Thanked: 6I also like that....so I would do Seraphim's and the above Del1r1um...also giving the option of a square point to satisfy those who have different ideas...if the process is as cheap and easy as mentioned, I dont see why not try to make everyone happy...

That one looks tre' cool, but I think in reality, the thumbnotch is not useable the way it is positioned.
For anyone, I would recommend drawing out a design, and if you think it looks like a "go", cut the design out of a thick piece of cardboard (like a cardboard box, for instance), and see how it feels in your hand, where your thumb goes, etc, etc...

If you've seen any of my modded blades, you'll know I usually go for another bumpy thing before the blade, but, you could also simply move the entire curve back, like you have it, if you follow the way a LeGrelot 1/4 grind does the thumbnotch. The thumbnotch position affects where your other fingers go on the blade, adn you also have to be aware of where the scales pivot is going to go, and how your fingers will interact with that as well.
My first thumbnotch mod looked sweet, but in use, it was too far forward, which threw off my other finger placement.
