I had said that I would be at this meet-up come hell or high water, but I had not planned on hell AND high water. Thanks to Randy repeatedly checking in and asking if I was still on for Missouri, I made it anyway.

I am extremely grateful to Ray and Margie for hosting this gathering. They had all of our needs covered, and then some. Of course the food, including the 60 lbs of ribs, was amazing but it was the totality of their effort that I appreciate. Their work made everything easy for the rest of us. Thank you Ray. Thank you Margie.

I've been to a lot of meet-ups and each of them has been a joy. The opportunity for beginners to see and feel in person what they have only experienced on-line allows them to have that "ah-hah" moment when what they have read and have seen on videos suddenly makes sense when they experience it with their own hands. Even though I love honing, I have always been concerned that most meet-ups are too focused on honing. In reality though, that is what these things gravitate toward because that is what causes the greatest difficulty for beginners.

I could babble on, but I'll just say that I had a blast and appreciate everyone for coming.

What kind of scope did you get as well as the power? I noted my scope was changed to 40x many times during the meet. I like to keep it on 100x I have the best luck there.

    It is a Swift nine fifty 4x 10x 40x with a 10x eyepiece. I've been keeping it at 100x too. $10 on Craig's list.

shopgoodwill.com has a large selection of various microscopes. I just bid on one there. If you narrow your search to a local area you may be able to do a pickup and avoid the shipping.

Two more sticks, one tin, and the Pumpkin samples to give away, and I'll be back to the amount of soap I had before the meet.
