Amen to Howards dark beer it was quite good plus I really liked that 11 Wells Single Malt Whiskey made in Minnesota that Randy brought to sip on it was really smoooooooooth. Believe this or not but that is the first alcohol that I had had with in the past two months. I was through making a blade and honing it to shave ready and Charlies place was so relaxing just listening to guys talk etc. I just felt like a drink. Also, Kudos to Howard's method of transporting and dispersing the beer it was quite a spectacular thing to observe.
HAS HOWARD DECIDED TO MAKE THIS A TWO DAY EVENT OR JUST ONE??????????Last edited by str8razor; 03-08-2016 at 07:03 PM.
if anything has been abnormal for a long enough period it then becomes normal.

Thanked: 21The event will be two days, Saturday 28 May and Sunday 29 May. You can camp in the yard if you don't mind tent camping, and there is room to park several vehicles and/or a camper or three. We can talk razors, hones, and related stuff, and even play with fire and have some fun in the shop. I will be fresh back from teaching a razor making class the week before at the New England School of Metalwork in Auburn Maine. I primarily make katana for the last 16 years, but have made many razors, starting more than twenty years ago. It should be fun.

Thanked: 70Howard Clark: I'm into straight razor shaving for less than a year; such a meet-up would be so helpful for me. If possible, I would like to attend. Will information such as
the Iowa town & address be forthcoming? Learner (aka Tom Du Jardin)

Thanked: 21I see Randy beat me to it. Ah well. The meet will be at my shop, which is located at 115 35th Place, Runnells, Iowa. Google maps locates me perfectly, Morgan Valley Forge. I am NOT a hardware store, which is what they seem to think (for what reason I do not know). Though admittedly, there is a great deal of hardware here. It is locate about 30 miles southeast of Des Moines. I am out in the country a bit, and there are three miles of gravel road to get here from the paved road. The closest hotels are in Pleasant Hill, Iowa at the Sleep Inn, or in Altoona where there are multiple choices. Or Newton, which also has multiple choices. All are approximately 30 minutes away from the shop.

Thanked: 3795Awesome! Making this a 2 day event helps justify the trip for more people.
This should be another fun and educational gathering!
