    I like Birmingham.

Barring, death, flood, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, I've been given permission to attend.

Watching others is without doubt the best way to learn.

I can bring my hones strops, pastes etc.. I can demo how I get them to work for me if that would be helpful. I can even try and sharpen up a blade or two for visitors. I'd love to watch how others do it.

Great idea Stephen and well done in getting things going. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

I just checked whether Ryanair would fly to Birmingham or East Midlands from an Airport near me (Linz or Salzburg, Austria), but, alas, they don't which makes it nearly impossible for me to get there cheap (I'm a student and spent all my money on hones right now ) Unless I can come up with another solution I won't be able to come which is a pity as I planned on going to Great Britain late summer anyway and this would've been a perfect opportunity to meet you folks

Stephen count me in. I have marked it in my diary and as a weekend I am MUCH more available. I'll be in touch with both you and Garry. Is there any feasability of a discount from a local accomodation if we block book? Something to look into at least.

And you can watch it all in glorious technicolour webcam! Record it and put it on YouTube

Seriously though, if you want a webcam I could try and arrange that providing the place has a wireless connection. Stephen could you find out please? If so i'll bring the required equipment.

I can check for wireless internet but I think not somehow. When I mentioned we were an internet club she immediately said - 'oh, will you need an internet connection?' I don't think they have it in the room. However that is not insurmountable with a plug in vodafone dongle, or some such thing I am sure!

Cool will have to talk to the Mrs now. That paragon hotel looks alright for 30 quid and if a few of us are staying there it could save on taxi fares. Only problem now is i cant book a train more than 12 weeks in advance Suppose i could always drive is worse comes to worse.
