Thanked: 1I'll just bring it along, in case there is a chance. I'd love to be able to do this myself some day (by the way, out of interest, any recommendations on what is a decent hone for us UK folks? Norton hones are very expensive.).

Norton combis are the standard for many folk. We do get a discount (10%) at classichand tools - I think. Check the link in vendors section - it may be quite a way down as I put it there about 5 months ago. There are so many stones - and alternatives like scary sharp systems, pasted paddles and chrome oxide etc. It may be worth considering just getting a cheap chinese 12K for instance and using that to touch up (there is one in the raffle ). So many alternatives that you need to prob read the honing threads and bring a few questions to the meet - take it from there.

Thanked: 1I do still have a carborundum hone from when I first attempted to get into shaving, I just realized. I think that should probably suffice.

207 hours to go!!!!
Steve wll be bringing some Belgian coticule hones to the meet. I think that he said that he will be selling them at a discount to his normal price. There will definitely be a hone in the raffle from what I remember being posted here.
Hope you enjoyed your break in Gairloch, Stephen
Might it be a good idea if we drew the raffle earlier in the proceedings, rather than later, given that those who do not win what they were hoping for would then be able to buy what they want from Steve? He is our sponsor, after all
Lastly, will I be the only one wearing a cilt?
Normal service will now resume

Thanked: 131I think so dude. Sorry but I have too much to bring already!
Although I dont need to bring my scuttle any more. My cat jumped onto the basin last night, knocked it off and smashed it.
My only one, and a present too.

You know - a cat could make quite a funky sporran! Bit of work but you've obviously got some skills with your hands Sidney.
I don't feel like doing the kilt thing in Birmingham right now - if it was Birmingham USA then prob would but folk in the black country may just think me a big jessie. But really, I think I have too much to carry plane wise also...
cheers
Stephen
