Dude, that is a crying shame. How about if I offer to make you one? It might not be ready for a month or two. It is yours if you want it
Fine pair of Scotsmen you two make! The jessies are the ones in trousers. How does what a load of Brummies think have any bearing on our attire? Hey ho I will be the only one getting the attention. It is such a burden
I will be wearing my new UnionKilt, which arrived this morning & I have not taken off yet

Cor - The wit is flying like bullets in a cowboy movie, I'm a-keeping out of it..........
Anyway, to the chap who is looking for hones. There will be (besides the 12K Chinese) a Coticule bout and also a fairly large BBW in the prize line-up. (Sidney I also forgot there's a copy of Lynn's honing DVD as well!) I will also have some bouts and BBW's with me. My honing demo will be along the lines of 'and here's one I prepared earlier' - dost think me daft, sirrahs? I came not up the river on a motorbike! In any case I expect someone will turn up with a ripsaw disguised as a straight and wave it in my general direction - 'hey, Steve, if you have a minute.....'
Not long now!
Makar old chap - PM me regarding meeting a bit earlier if that thesis hasn't fried yer brains yet!Last edited by blueprinciple; 09-12-2008 at 06:57 PM.

Thanked: 174I offered to do some honing if required very early in these proceedings. and I'd have preferred a hands on educational event rather than an organised agenda but with respect to our organisers, they are trying to cover a lot of ground in four hours, and that is difficult in a confined space for 40. It sounds as if the raffle alone could take two hours. But to be honest, I don't need to go to Birmingham for a raffle however exciting the prizes are.
The event for me at least is an extension of the forum were members and invitees can learn and share straight razor expertise in a sociable and friendly environment and face to face. I'm sure that this is the essence of what the organisers have arranged.
I would deeply regret my attendance if the event is in any way just a sales jamboree. We can all use the Internet or go to Boot's for that.

There will be plenty of time indeed for learning and sharing experiences. That was the whole raison d'etre. The raffle will be over in a twinkling I am sure but I think it good to share just how generous members have been re the donations in this way.
I am 100% certain that anyone who has anything to share can be given the time to do just that. If it is honing or stropping, restoration or shaving tips. Sandy - Sidney kidney - has created a provisional running order for the day based on what we understand members want to enjoy and find out about. We will try and keep to a loose agenda as every event like this needs some structure. However, as you suggest English, the mainstay of the day will be meeting and sharing. If anybody has the ability and desire to show another member or a few others how they hone/strop/whatever then there will be time to do that. Be good to let Sidney Kidney know if you would like an allocated time slot as such so that everbody can partake.
It has been like pulling teeth at times to get this organised and it has also been fun, latterly particularly, as there is now a bit of mirth and expectancy setting in.
Did we ever start to organise where to go for food/drinks after? I seem to have lost my view of the horizon lately! A few odds and sods to sort before the day yet - name badges for folks arriving (sticky white labels with user name and real name?), I will make sure teas and coffees available, Sandy to supply the cat for a demo shave etc...

Thanked: 174Fantastic, and thank you and Sandy for your efforts. I don't mean to preach but perhaps I can point out a few things that you can not.
I'm sure it will be a fantastic afternoon. Really looking forward to meeting you and everybody else and participating.

Thanked: 131I'm sorry English if your offer of a honing demo wasnt picked up on sooner. I am unsure what you mean when you compare an organized event to an organized agenda. In my experience the better the organization of the event, the more one is able to learn. And yes, it IS alot to cover in four hours. I would be HIGHLY surprised if the raffle took anything LIKE 2 hours. Speaking of the raffle, we need someone to organize it on the day- selling tickets etc. We also need someone to bring those name tag labels. Perhaps that same person could greet people at the door and give out labels?
