Thanked: 3215So, just thinking about how my progression has evolved over the years. I started with a 2 stone Ark progression, in the 70’s, a Washita and 6X2 Translucent, that I use for at least 10 years.
Then for years I use a Norton 1,4,8k and finished on a King Ice Bear 10k and or Natural stones, Slates, Arks or Coticules.
I added a 12k Super stone 10-15 years ago and a Chosera1k a bit later. Up until a few years ago, that was what I used, to hone tons of razors, a Chosera, Norton 4/8k and 12k Super Stone.
I have done a lot of experimenting and settled on a mixed progression I like, but really, I don’t know that it is any faster or better, than the Norton progression I used years ago, and served me very well for many years. I still have those stones, though some are a bit thin…
Guess it’s that mileage thing Glen talks about…

Thanked: 66The screenshot you provided was not the Chosera line, those are the SuperStone line in the screenshot.
Chosera are now known as the Naniwa Professional series.
This is what it would cost for the Chosera 1k,3k and Original Snow White 8k, its a bit steep in price but you did ask about fastest speed, this would be about as fast as you can get on a known and proven progression, although Euclid's progression of using the Nubatama Ume 1k,Naniwia Green Brick 2k, and the Snow White would probably be great as well.

Thanked: 3215That should work, nicely. The 8k is very aggressive and should make the jump without a problem, just make sure to remove the deep 1k stria with the 3.
That 8k edge is very shaveable, add some good Chrome Oxide or .50 CBN and you are golden.

Thanked: 77Sadly no. Cell rot got to most of them and all but maybe three were pretty well trashed. The worst part is probably half where dubl duck. [emoji26] he wanted 6000 and he just had them piled in a box with no real ventilation for what he said was 15 years.

Thanked: 3215Double Ducks are notorious for cell rot.
A few months ago, I meet with a guy who bought a warehouse of vintage Barber Supplies, it had been pretty picked over and he want me to restore hundreds of NOS, Double Ducks, boxed and wrapped in the tissue. They were all cell rotted, most completely eaten and all had cell rot in various stages of decay on the blades. He wanted to restore, as many as possible. He also wanted to do it, as inexpensively as possible…
It was way more of a project than I wanted to get involved with. It would have been a long and frustrating, full time job.

Thanked: 46Heres goes a can a worms, fastest progession is a dmt coarse -> coticule with slurry and dilute until you use just water. Strop and shave. So lets hear it boys, I know this is gonna piss some people off.
