I don't remember what stone I used immediately before. I did 75 laps starting with light slurry, slowly diluted with water to clear (dilucot).

Being purple and slate it probably has a similar make up and similar properties.
Thats Interesting!!! got any pics of it?

I never use tape. My razors are workhorses not showpieces.

They just needed a touch-up. I touch up frequently. My skin starts to become irritated when I have to go over a certain area too often to get it smooth. That's usually when the edge starts to fail the HHT.

I received mine on Friday and honed a couple razors over the weekend using it as the finishing stone (immediately after Norton 8K). One I honed using light slurry and the other on water only.
On both I'd say the edge got noticeably sharper than the edges produced by the Naniwa 10K (Highest grit synthetic stone I have for comparison). I shaved 2 days growth with one of the razors and noticed less trouble getting through the heavier growth beard and had a very comfortable smooth shave.
I'm very happy with mine, I may not have any need for that Naniwa 10K any more...

I like my LM a lot more than my C12k, this has been one of my best hone purchases

    What a torturous thread.

I sat on the fence about the purple hones until all of the 75mm wide hones ran out, because of the shipping.

Figured this morning I would get on and suck it up on the cost of the shipping, and of course the 75mm hones are all gone.

I'm not sure if I hope they will be back or if I hope they won't be back (e.g., if they ran out). I know which one will be better for my marriage (given the maybe 50 or so hones that float around in my garage and bathroom).

With so many hones living in your home the missus won't notice one more.

DaveW, you could say it's a girl hone you bought for her because it's purple
