Thread: Hone of the Day

First touch up on a new Orihi Kamisori on a lovely Nakayama Iromono.
It shaved nicely on the first shave, but felt the toe was a little less than the rest of the edge. So I made it all the same along the whole edge. First Kamisori too so I am going really easy and light while I figure it out. I did like 10:2 on the stone.

Another gorgeous stone.

Couldn't sleep so I honed up this CMon at 0300. Dilucot on what I believe to be an LPB followed by light slurry and then just water on what I believe to be a black Thuri. The shave was a splendid one.

Note: The stone is actually darker than it appears here. I adjusted the contrast just a little to accentuate the mottling that really pops out when the stone is wet which is hard to capture well with my camera phone.

I've had quite a few nice razors in this week including these 4 over the weekend back out Monday enjoy the weekend.

From this mornings efforts..

This is the Merx & Co. razor that was off gassing. Blade was cleaned and i had an old set of scales that fit nicely.

Set the bevel on a #1 Washita (bottom).

Middle stone is a Dans Soft/Hard combo (soft side up).

I finished on my newly acquired Charnley Forest. Thanks Solitary Soldier!! Great stone.

I love the hazy bevel you get from the chert.. So different then the polished edge of a 12k.



Test shave is in the works..

Just had a session...
W&B frameback . Done on the Nakayama. Full progression with my new Mejiro and Koma . The Mejiro is super soft and the Koma cuts super fast..

The other two are a W&B and a Dovo SS frozen ice thingy? razor to be technical .

Did them both on the Chosera 1/5/10k then the Shapton 16k and finished on the blue green Escher ..

The Jnat W&B is the best shaver I've owned and is primed ..
The Esher finish W&B is for my next shave , part of my on going tests..
Unfortunately the Dovo SS was a fail , I will re visit it tomorrow . A case of needs more work ... I much prefer to work with one razor from start to finish alone

Just honed up my W&B 7/8ths & My Brothers Dovo SS..

Went up to 16k Shapton and then the Escher.

They pop hairs like a mad man but I have to wait until Tuesday to test them.. I will be shaving with 4 razors

My main shaver needed touch up. Got to try out new finishing stone I have shoubudani Mizu asagi.
Razor is a puma duck

Just refreshed two razors, shave test of the RigaRazor, For Barber's Use bit later this afternoon.

Light slurry with the Y/G side of the slurry stone until clear, then onto the Livi Loom strop...
