That puts me 15 hours ahead of you, I am to bed, up in around 7 hours, have a good morning. I hope to catch up later.
Using my phone to forum was a bad idea, I am kind of addicted to checking my emails now to see if any of my subscribed threads have new posts.

Have you had any strop inspiration yet? (you will find, if you haven't already, that I am shocking for both crossthreading, and off topicing)
Inspiration can be found at any time, whether you're happy, sad, angry, drunk, high, indifferent, busy, early, late, going about your every day activities, eating breakfast, shaving, etc.

I'm never more inspired than when I'm really meant to be something else. As such, during work hours my mind is a veritable hive of creativity. Outisde of work it's a completely different story.

True, I find inspiration in lots of things, but when I am happy and loving life, I tend not to want to stop and do whatever it is that I am inspired to do. But I am not a creative sort in the poetry, writing or art (of any kind) sense of things. I would probably be considered a heathen, I get bored at art galleries, don't even bother going into museums anymore (except with my daughter, I love to see the wonder of discovery in her eyes), read anything of any real substance. Well that just depressed me a bit.
I feel pretty lucky to be metaphorically surrounded by such a wonderful bunch of bright young (and not so young) things.

My workplace is currently draining my soul of any desire to create anything. But that's only temporary, and possibly slightly inaccurate as I made a strop the other day.

Hm I'm yet to get myself a strop, do you make many or was it one off? (I'll buy off you if you make in bulk)

BORING ALERT. You can't offer to buy stuff on threads, you will get in trouble.
No I just make stuff ad hoc, the last one was the rough and dirty denim. It would generally be cheaper to buy a new strop than make your own.
But making them is really easy, and if you have ready access to cheap materials then I would recommend giving it a go.
My other leather strop is literally a 75mm wide strip of leather with a hinge riveted on to each end, and a picture hanging thing fixed via the centre rivet at the top end, I threaded a thin leather thing through this to hang it. The other end has a bit of leather fixed on via the rivets that holds a piece of bent wire coat hanger as a hand hold. There are piccies on a thread called homemade roo strop.
I would gladly knock you up a denim one though you could get the materials for less that it would.cost me to post it to you.

My boss remains surprised that I'm still here given the tedious and unfulfilling nature of it. The dream will always be to be self employed (The dream also conveniently edits out doing taxes, no holiday pay and no sick cover).

    Which one,
The leather one is 75mm by 650mm roughly, the fabric one is 80mm by 700mm (you will loose a bit when you sew the ends up.

Though you can make whatever size you want, wider strops are more likely to cup (bend inwards along the length) though to an extent tension fixes that, make sure you have solid hardware of some sort at each end too.
Strops really dont need to be flash, and you will most likely hurt your first one at least a bit.
If i knacker either of my strops I can just replace the strop surface onto the existing hardware.
