I see you are very interested of the Russian/Eastern European cuisines.
You should make a trip to Baltic States (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia) or Poland. They have very tasty food cultures there and not only eastern style. Although in most places i've been, solyanka seems to be the everyday favourite in street bars, grills and so. Not so much of my taste.
And of course in Scandinavia too. Here in Finalnd the cuisines are highy regional; it's difficult to find any Russian style food, ingredients or restaurants from the western parts of the country, but in the eastern parts they are common. Swedish food is ok too (excluding lutefisk which, imho, is meant to remove wallpapers from the walls or keeping fox and raccoon dogs away from your garden ).
I've never been in Russia but they have some inyteresting specialites there (not to talk about vodka & gherkins).'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
